Car accident

One member here was T-Boned at 45+ MPH by a truck, emergency responders opened the passenger door and pulled him out. He got out with a broken clavicle and nose if I remember correctly. Either way, minor injuries for the severity of the impact.
any airbags deploy?
any of the wheels bent?
any other damage to the car outside of that section?
how many miles on the car?
honestly if it's not high mileage and you have no airbags deployed, it's most likely going to be repaired. the frame isn't that bent if the rear glass is still intact, plus a floor pan is engineered to do that in an accident so they make them cheap if/when you need to replace them.

It looks bad but is actually a good thing. People equate a car crushing with it's lack of saftey when in fact it's the opposite! The structure is designed to crumple at certain rates in certain areas to help absorb the energy of impacts. If a passenger was in the back seat, they would have been pretty much fine physically without scratches or bruises.

back in 09, i got rear ended in my old RDX by a girl doing about 30 in a volvo V70 and there were just a bunch of scratches on the bumper. her car was totaled.
im guessing it was a big pick up or small commercial vehicle that hit you?

This thing took a MAJOR hit, and yet the cabin is unscathed. Safe car.
Im sure its totaled , it looks like your navi is done for because i know the navi sits right there in that corner , its was the main reason my car was totaled as well , a new navi is about 4 k
^yea ,i plan on staying married to it forever
when i got it , only paid $15k for it, totaled and they gave me 23k and i paid $2200 to buy it back and about $7k to fix it with all type-s parts

car is absolutely f@cked, but the passenger compartment is still intact, and the door still opened
and cars are easily replaceable too (even if it is an "exclusive" model)
chrome pillars

but also needs a new trunk and that is at least a couple hundred, also an exhaust too
and if indeed the navi module sits there (considering it is a couple of years now, you might be able to find one used)
it would in no way surprise me if the car was totaled (also what happens if the entire rear frame got pushed/bent over; that will really push the bill up fast)(sometimes it is just not worth it to fix)
This sounds kind of bad really, but I am glad to see that these cars seem to absorb impact pretty well. Coming from years of Mercedes to what is perceived as a "plastic" type of car had made me rather nervous about their safety.
Looks good so far, I'm just sorry that so many folks lately have been able to supply crash photos......

I'm very sorry to see that. As someone said, rear end collisions tend to be less expensive than front ones, but still...it's looking like it'll be totaled. That's some serious damage.
Dave:
Your accident is WAY different! His went way more into the inner quarter, wheel house, rear floor, and rear frame rails. to say he needs a quarter is just not correct, well it is but there is WAY more needed. I say total loss and i do this for a living. I wouldnt even want something like that back! Good luck

(and i would not want it back either, no car is ever the same, after being repaired)

Looks bad, sorry
