Can't get the NSX off my mind
I'd say most Honda/Acura enthusiasts experience several NSX dreams throughout their lifetime. It's natural and you'll get over it in about 20 years (maybe).
I wouldn't mind having an NSX, TL-S, and a Prelude with OEM lip kit. I might still pickup a Prelude because I still think it's one of the best designed two door coupes out there.

if your wife got a car and you get a beater, why not get the NSX. I mean, even if you make payments on it, if it doesn't put you and your family in the poor house, go for it. I doubt you will get any time to drive it with the kid and all.
why does it matter on what we think or what is feasible to us!?
this thread is 50/50......some saying go for it and others, well.
i think this conversation is for you and your wife.
hell, surprise us in a few months with a new car thread.

I have a friend that has the Lamborghini dream. Until then he has settled for his 2004 Lotus Esprit V8. He had one older one before that he totalled. Then he went out and did it again (bought another one that is). Both cars were maintenance nightmares. Even I drove one to the shop for him when he was busy.
At least the NSX wouldn't be a maintenance challenge. But if it's performance you want, why not buy a late model Corvette?

It's the exotic look of the NSX that draws me to it. I'm not a speed demon or an autocross guy. I just like the car. I want to wax it (I'm sick). I drove a black on black NSX in 1997 and loved it, every angle, inside and out.

We had a red '88 Prelude. It was fun, but trashed when we got it. We sold it for $200 more then we bought it for and it was totaled two weeks later. It was a fun car for sure. Not super fast, but fun to drive and it sounded great.
And we had a red '94 Integra, GSR. That car was fun too. But it had a repainted fender that no one but I could see the color difference. I had read somewhere that that car had the same paint as the NSX. It was awesome (everywhere but the fender). I love red cars!

The prelude is hands down the best car I have owned to date(RIP Michelle). Everytime I see one, its like I fall in love all over again. I'm seriously considering purchasing one and rebuild it from the ground up. To the OP, if you can make it happen then do it. As others may have mentioned, you might not be able to find one in decent condition if you wait a couple years.
I didn't mean to hijack this thread but we're talking about realistic dreams here...I just saw a nice, light blue manual prelude with OEM lip kit at Panera during lunch. It's exactly what I want. I was telling my friends as this youngster rolled up in it and they were like "what, that's not a prelude". It was in pretty good condition; I was gonna snap and talk to the owner. That would of put an end my TL modding plans for the summer.
I aswell ventured.(hahaha) Its a beautiful looking car.Definitely going to to be a classic. But with that said family comes first, toys come and go if you want one bad enough you'll get it eventually.enjoy your baby.
Ok, aside from the popular and most blatant answer of 'No, a baby is on the way', maybe I can help ask a question that will help your decision.
Financially, do you think you'll be able to afford an NSX, as well as taking care of the baby?
You have plenty of cars, so realistically, as you stated, the NSX is purely a toy

I own both a tls and a supercharged nsx
to be honest, driving my 6 spd tls makes me not miss my nsx at all... Doesnt mean i would sell my nsx though
the nsx is reliable, yes. But its already a 20 year old car and design. When parts break, it is NOT cheap at all. The rubber molding on my targa top, 2 strips of rubber, costs $1200 each.
If you can afford the cars without having to worry about feeding yourself or your family, go for it. At the end of the day, its all about priorities...

Update
Okay guys, I did it. A few years after I started this thread, we have had our second child, a new Odyssey, a new house, finished some school, and I brought home my NSX yesterday! It's a 1996 with 33k miles.
I bought the car from a true enthusiast down in California. I drove the car 900 miles to Tacoma. From there, it was shipped up to Anchorage. The car had never seen rain in its life. Great weather on the whole drive. Well, until Anchorage. Now it has seen snow. I felt driving it home from the port would be better than having it put on a flatbed. I was tired of other people touching it.
On with the pics. The first few shots are of my drive up to Tacoma:

And then yesterday:

And with the TL:

Awesome purchase bud. My dream NSX is basically the one you have. Don't want it for the speed or power, could buy a S2K for that sometime but the NSX is worth collecting. Would love a ride like that!
I truly appreciate your commitment and luck in pursuing your man oriented hobbies. More power to you, specially when the wife is on board. I say that as a very busy father of two toddlers. In any case, the TL still looks amazing next to the NSX, and hey, you can drive the TL all year round with your family on board too! Long live the TL as an all year, all purpose sports sedan. Love it.
Enjoy the NSX, by the way
Cheers
