Well I just got a 05 TL 6speed and ppl have told me on this site that there is a recall for 3rd gear (pops out and grinds sometimes). I just called the dealership and they said the only recall on the car is some hose and that it was done already. I dotn have a problem yet but I am scared that if 3rd gear starts grinding, its gonna be expensive to fix it. Did any canadians have to do this and why is there no recall on this in canada?

 

Im not sure about the 3rd gear recall, i got an automatic so i dont think id know.. but the only recall i had to do is the power steering hose one..

 

yes thats what the girl at the dealership said was done already on my car. And you are from Edmonton? Me too man. What part of the city do you live in?

 

Change the MTF, use the GM syncromesh. Other have had success with that, I used Amsoil MTF it fixed the issue.

 

If you didnt experienced the issue yet, don't worry. It happened only to a few 6speed unlucky owners.

I bought my 04 6speed more then a year ago and it stills feel like new.

There's a TSB out for the 3rd gear issue. Mine does that abut when I had it in the dealer couldn't replicate the problem so we left it at that for the time being.

I might have it done when I'm ready to get a clutch replacement.

 

I've been two three Acura dealerships in Montreal and they do not know about the 3rd Gear TSB.
I've been to one Acura dealership in Kitchener and they do not know about the 3rd Gear TSB.
For some reason.... the 3rd Gear TSB is not listed in the Canadian Acura system.
So the only resolution for us Canadian 6spders is to use the GM Synchro-Mesh transmission fluid. You'll need like... 3 bottles of it.

 

ok thanks you guys, now I am not as stressed out about it. I dont notice anything while shiffting, just dont want it to start acting up so I will try and prevent it as best as I can.
