Canadians! Change holder
One thing I noticed on my Anthra/Ebony 05 TL is that the little device that holds coins only holds nickels dimes and quarters.
I think this is US biased for a start ... and if acura can go to the trouble of replacing a mph dash with a km/h dash then at least change the coin holder too
anyways, if anyone lives in toronto you can't park on a landfill for less than a dollar!
so what use is there storing nickels and dimes in a car. where is the Loonie and Toonie holder? anyone know if you can buy one?

same as above. Loonies and Toonies around that storage area. sometimes it drops down to lower level. I keep quarters in middle, 10c on left and pennies&5cents in right holder.

i thought you guys were just F'ing around with the loone/toonie thing but i guess they are real. I can just see the new canaidan acura ads, "Now with loonie and toonie holders instead of those silly things americans call nickels and dimes"

Exactly ... the fact is, acura do have a different canadian model of the TL. I mean, how much work would it be to have a canadian coin holder too!

I've got some loonies and toonies that have been sitting in the cupholder since my last trip north of the border. Works well enough. I suppose I should just take all the Canadian change out since I don't plan on going north any time soon, but I'm lazy about it. The Coinstar machine at the grocery store doesn't know the difference between US and Canadian pennies, though......

A "toonie" (sometimes also spelt "twonie") is a $2 coin.
Canada hasn't had a $1 bill since about 1986 or 1987 and hasn't had a $2 bill since about 1996. The US would do well to follow as to the $1 bill....vending machines that take $1 coins are a lot easier to use than the ones that reject your $1 bill over and over again.....

Another Canuck jumping in
Recently traded 2000 Mazda Millenia S for a 2003 Acura TL-S and miss the old one but starting to love the "new" one. I could change the temperature readouts from C to F on the Mazda and would like to change the TL from stupid Celcius to Fahrenheit. Acura Canada customer type just laughed and asked me why I would want to do that. Duh. I am old school and hate metric measurement in everything. Trudeau did it so we could all get screwed when buying gasoline. One U.S. quart is about same volume as one litre. One U.S. gallon is 3.78 litres. Difference between U.S. 87 octane to 89 octane to 91 octane is around 10 cents per gallon per octane jump. Difference in Canada is about 10 cents per litre or about 45 cents per U.S. gallon. To change C to F (or t'other way 'round) the procedure was a bit Mickey Mouse. Hold two buttons down then turn on ignition without starting, then release one button. Thank goodness for that 3rd hand! Anyone help out here? JC

Funny, I live near Washington DC and would like to be able to change the Fahrenheit reading to Celsius. The measurements we use in the US are the most asinine system one could imagine.
What I REALLY don't understand is why, with the MID being digital and all that, you can't change the odometer display from metric to US and vice versa. I've driven other cars with digital odometers where all you do is press a button. It's not like it's difficult—all they have to do is program the conversion algorithm into the software. It would make eminent sense when you cross the border to have your odometer in the same units of measure as appear on the highway signs.

FWIW all my coins stay in the cup holder - the one between the front seats closed to the rear of the car. Change comes and goes as does my Tim Horton's moods. If ya don't know what lonnies and toonies are ya might not get the Tim Horton's thing either .

I am very glad that we have been able to discuss the history of the loonie, the decline of the american dollar, and some anti-metric propaganda, but can we get back to the Canadian change holder. I am getting rid of my 1999 Dodge Caravan for a 2008 TL but the Caravan has a Canadian change holder. I will miss the Canadian change holder. It is the only thing that I will miss as the dodge is a piece of ….. But I will still miss it. Anyone how were to get a Canadian holder. Also have you notice that you can put your change holder in the arm rest or in the map pocket on the driver’s door.

My best advice is to make one yourself.
It seems pretty simple.
An empty cylinder with a spring. Cover the spring with a... cover? Create stops so the spring doesn't jump out.
Measure the loonies and toonies accordingly.
I thought about doing it several times... and fabricating it to attach permanently to the coin holder.
I always keep my coin holder on the side where the pockets are and not in the arm rest.
Also, there's a little space (sort of triangular-ish) that you can use to hold some small amount of change. Too much and it'll fall into the map pockets.
Edit: Actually, since I'm back home in Montreal and have no work or anything... I'll try to finally fabricate one myself. I'll see how it goes.

I dont have a coin holder in my TL Not that i know of anyway. Also one of my biggest complaints is i can not read the us speed on my speedo. When ever i travel down across the border i just guesstimate.

Honestly I dont have a coin holder, and really have no use for one anyway...maybe if we had so many tolls like the US does, Acura would have spent the money developing a CAD coinholder, otherwise, why bother??

I dont know, I got the TL from the dealership off lease so maybe they took it out. As far as the MPH i know they are there, but in the daytime they are just brutal to see. I generally do the conversion in my head for the mph, would just be nice to be able to read them that's all.
