Canadian Conversions of Speedometer to km/h
Hi,
New to the forum, am thinking of buying a used 2008 TL Type S. The only caveat is that the speedo is in mp/h and the electronics etc are all in Fahrenheit.
I know that Acura doesn't honor warranty on US cars in Canada but does anyone know how difficult it is to change the speedo as well is if there is any way to change the computer to more 'Canadian' settings?
Thanks in advance,
Fred

Why change?
I bought my 08 T.L. in the U.S. and it has both MPH and km. Sure the MPH is larger and the temp etc is in F, rather than C, but I didn't change anything.
Don't see the need to, since I know the conversions, and actually prefer the U.S. version.
Again mine has both, and I wouldn't pay to change it that's for sure.

Maybe I don't need to change it, but just get used to it. It was the first US car I had driven in Canada.
You are correct it does it have both, just the mph is in bigger numbers.
Maybe I will drive it again, and see if it bothers me again.
Thanks.

by a new cluster, believe its 230
have it done either at the dealer or at a shop specializing in speedo's so that the milareage reading isn't affected

Keep Right Except to Pass
I believe Canadian law requires that km/h be the main units displayed on the speedometer and that the odometer display kilometres. (It's really stupid that Acura didn't provide a way to switch the odometer display in the TL by pressing a button. Did they think nobody ever drives outside of the US?) I know if you import a car from Canada to the US they make you replace the speedometer and odometer, and the reverse is very likely to be true.

I never changed mine over from U.S. - to Canadian and had no problems. Again I actrually prefer the U.S. method, since I live in a border town, and I'm also old enough to remember miles etc.
The car passed both Federal and Provincial safety tests etc when I brought it back and had the Ontario plates put on, and again no questions asked.
I'm too cheap to needlessly spend the $ 230.00 or whatever the price suggested was.
I just don't see the need, and again it does have both miles and k.m.
