Canadian Availability...?
I'm about ready to pull my hair out. I ordered an '05 TL, AT w/NAVI, NBP w/Camel in the Toronto area on Oct. 05/04. The only stipulation I had for the dealership was that it had to be ready by Oct. 30/04 because I had to turn in my previous car (lease expired).
They gave me the "sure, no problem" reply which I pretty much expected. During the paperwork, I asked when, and was told 1-2 weeks (i.e. mid Oct.). I thought no problem since even if they're late by a good margin it still wouldn't be a problem. Well, two weeks to the day I called and was told "some time in November". I stayed calm and told them unacceptable. Later on I saw the delivery schedule; my car was set to be delivered between Nov. 04-10. Obviously, I have nothing right now (not even a phone call).
Now driving a loaner EL, I still have no idea when the car will be coming and pretty soon the snow is going to hit the ground and I'll have had no time to get to really play around with the car.
Anyway, is anyone else in the Toronto area experiencing these delays? And if so, does your dealer also seem to be completely in the dark?
Also, what do you guys think I can get away with asking for as "compensation" for the delay? Right now, the car is vanilla; the only option is the NAVI. I was thinking about demanding an upgraded tire/rim option.
Finally, how dependable are those "delivery schedules" from dealerships?

Thats too bad buddy b/c I see 2005 in stock here in Vancouver where I bought mine!!!
midnight12, did you get anything in writing from the dealership that your car would be delivered before November? If so, you have a breach of contract and you can maybe fight for some free upgrades. If not, they don't really have an obligation to give you anything for free. I'm sure they're doing the best they can because they want you to be happy just as much as you want your car, otherwise, you'll spread negative feedback about them and dealerships don't like that.
What dealer in Mississauga are you dealing with? I ordered my TL to come sometime in December to coincide with my current lease expiry.
I'm just hoping I don't run into the same problem you have.

zax123: no, I didn't get anything in writing since I (or either of us it seems) thought that an October delivery would be a problem. I'm not really interested in legal obligations--I'm just thinking I should push them to see just how interested they're in in keeping me happy. They seem to be trying, but each time I want an update-even after they blow by one of their own dates--I'm the one that has to call them rather than the other way around; I know if my company ran our business that way, we wouldn't have very many customers.
joes k: It was Acura Sherway. The only reason I went there was because of location convenience. You may want to check what your delivery schedule is with your dealership. They have this sheet of paper that lists their expected deliveries within a 7 day period (e.g. your car's delivery date may be "dec. 4-10"); it should have your name beside one of the deliveries.
