Can your girlfriend or wife drive manual...or even touch your car :)

Just wanted to see if any members out here actually let the woman drive or even be near their cars and if your wife or girlfriend can drive manual

my girlfriend has been learning to drive manual on my TL and doing ok actually

on a bad note, an ex girlfriend of mine crashed my 2000 tl into a huge pole at a local mall back in the day!!! it took a while for me to let a girl even sit behind the drivers seat of course...

so post up!!

lol... NO ONE drives my TL but me. I bought my wife her own Acura so she wouldn't bother me to drive my car.

She can sit in it, quietly.

My last ex, she would get mad at me if I didn't let her drive my last TL... So I did, new side view mirror later.... They all can sit, quietly.

One thing I have to say is my wife is an excellent driver. Rare I know but true. She had a Honda Delsole when we met and it was stick. She rarely drives my car because I am always driving it. Got her a Lexus last year to keep her in her own car.

My wife of 24 years can't drive a manual. I have offered her the opportunity to drive my TL at times and she probably would in an emergency, but so far she has refused to do so. She is too used to her minivan and perhaps even afraid I might go ballistic if something happened to the car with her driving it (I wouldn't - it's only a car). On another note, my 16 year old son just got his learner's permit and I will let him drive the TL as long as I am in it with him. That's even scarier than my wife driving it.

My wife has always driven stick (hey I didn't mean it in that way, pervert!) and she's pretty good at it too. She asks to take my car whenever she has a chance because she loves driving it as much as I do. She drives a Honda Pilot which is heavier on gas so taking my car is more economical so I don't mind.

yes I can drive stick, we have a 97 accord that is stick, I learned young so I have never had any problems.
Although my TL is an auto, nobody drives it! My husband has his own truck and a street bike he drives in the summer so he has no need to use my TL which is exactly the way I like it! I do not even like the service guys driving it when I bring it in, whenever I get it back I check my rims to make sure they didn't rub any curbs...my rims are in perfect condition and I would like to keep them that way!
BTW I am a very good driver I have never had an accident and I do not hit curbs or fences or parked cars or anything like that! :knocksonwood:

My wife does not drive manual. If she did, we'd have one (although I'm not an "expert" either).

Is my wife allowed to drive the car? WTF kind of question is that? Something along the lines of "all women are bad drivers"?

Now Asians, that's another story. An Asian will NEVER drive my car. They're all bad drivers and everybody knows it.

I let my wife drive my car 2 times, the first time she scraped my front bumber, the second time she scraped my rim. everysince she only come near the car when i'm around and only drive it when i'm the car with her... i'd offer her to take my car alone many time but she wound't dare to take it... so i went and bought her a little C230 Kompressor... she loved it and took good care of it as i take good care of my. and always tell me to bcareful everytime when i take her car out...

I attempted teaching my GF to drive a stick once. She actually got it out of first gear her first try wearing heels But she didn't know wear the brake was, hopped a curbed gashing my side skirt and almost hit a tree if I didn't lean over and put my hand on the brake lol

never again......

Relax.

If you'll notice there is no difference between saying "all women are bad drivers" and saying "all asians are bad drivers". They are both gross generalizations that evolve into false stereotypes.

IOW - I was proving the absurdity of the original generalization by claiming belief in another generalization. Most people probably get that. For you, maybe Red Text was needed.

Besides, it's an inside joke .... my wife is asian. Get it? haha?!?!?

She can drive a manual, but my blood pressure goes up whenever she drives mine (happens only once per quarter at the most), she pushes the clutch all the way down and makes the car jerk when she shifts she has never driven it alone.

My (our) 07-S auto is her daily driver (Til the snow starts to fly). She's an excellent driver, auto or stick. In the summer it's hard to keep her out of the S2K.

I taught my girlfriend how to drive stick in my TL.. It was a little weird hearing my baby stall and all that but she is a quick learner..

I let her drive my car when im a little tipsy, but she can use my car whenever she wants..

I want to buy her an MDX, so we can have an Acura family..

My girlfriend has no desire to drive mine lol. She loves her 03 v8 4-runner too much (has only a little over 33,000kms on it).
Hopefully in the near future I can per sway her to trade it in for a new mdx
Than I will be itching to drive that...

Ms1995hoo drives a 2003 RSX Type-S with a 6MT; she previously drove a 1988 RX-7 with a 5MT and that car is now mine. So in theory she could drive my TL, but she never has aside from briefly in a snowed-in car park at Mont-Tremblant when I put her in the driver's seat while I pushed the car out of a snowdrift. She drove about 150 metres to the other end of the car park, parked the car, and that was it.

Wife has driven my TL-S manual with me on several occasions. I even let her drive it home from work once by herself when I needed her van to haul some stuff. I did call her and see how she did. She has never stalled it which surpirises me. Have 3 grown daughters and all learned to drive a stick in my Taurus SHO's back in the 90's.

My wife does not know how to drive a manual so I am safe with my TL. But if she does know how to drive a manual, I would definitely let her drive it. I think she is a decent driver.

I taught my GF to drive stick in a Civic Hatchback. She got it after about a month. We need to practice though. I let her drive my TL from time to time. It alwasy scares me to let her drive it because I feel that it is a big car for her to drive.(She's only 5ft tall and 120lbs) However she does drive a Ford Explorer on a daily basis and does pretty good with that. The one thing that does concer me when she drives it is that the car is too low and I don't want her to damage anything. Don't really have a problem with her driving it though, as long as she doesn't try to take it from me.

Taught my wife to drive an Integra 5-speed two-of-my-cars ago. She got it pretty quickly. Continued to drive my next car, an Audi A4, and now the TL. Sometimes we have to switch if I need the SUV for carrying stuff.

Tried to teach my wife to drive an old Saab 900 MT many years back. Let's just say it was ugly. She never wanted to try again after that. Warp forward to 2005 with a whole different family situation where swapping cars occasionally could be helpful. She still said "get the MT". Great woman.

Many years ago I had a completely reworked big block Chevy with dual quads, radical cam, 4.56 gears, etc. My girl friend at the time, kept bugging me to drive the car. I got annoyed one day, threw her the keys and told her to give it a try. We got into the car, she started it up, she gave it some gas and away we went.....No problems at all. Now that we've been married for many years, manuals are no problems. In fact she does a good job driving the modified RX7 Turbo we purchased new.

My wife would not let me get the manual, I'd be in the dog house big time. I've had the car four days, and she took the TL to work with her today. LOL!

My wife can drive a manual better than I can (sort of).....and if I told her she couldn't drive my TL, she'd divorce me!!! Plus she's sacrificed just as much as I have so we could buy this car, so in my book, she's entitled to drive it whenever she wants......

Oh...my....gosh-how funny!! Bearcat is a great guy. Now you all know he's just joking around.

Back to the subject-my girlfriend will not drive my Type S....she's afraid of it. She hates it when I "gun it". She's very conservative, but cute.

Sure I let her touch my car-- someone has to wash and vacuum it, and who better than an Asian woman?? <-- how my teeth would look if my wife sees this comment...

My wife drives my TL (5A) sometimes, but can't drive my 5-speed Integra as I was unsuccessful in teaching her to drive with a clutch.

My GF scares the hell out of me when she drives. She used to know how to drive a manual but she says that she forgot. How someone forgets, I have no clue. Lucky, she has an '08 MB C300 so she never asks to drive mine since hers is newer.

I wanted a stick but there was no more type-s around when I bought mine so I had to go with a 5 speed auto base TL. My girlfriend, never wanted to drive the car, it's too "old" for her, she would prefer the G37 or 350z, even I wanted her to try the car out just for a litte feel of the car.

Quick Reply: Can your girlfriend or wife drive manual...or even touch your car :)
