Can you take Fluids to the dealer?

Again, yes I've searched....

Being that me working on a car is like a man with no arms boxing, I was wondering can I take products to a dealer and have them installed. Because I seen where you guys say that the Redline is far better for the Transmission than Honda Fluids and I was wondering can I buy my own fluids for when I go to the dealer to get it done.

I think it depends on the dealer. I had aftermarket brake pads on my Accord once and remember being told that the dealer simply flat-out would not work the brakes of my car

I think it's a liability thing. Obviously, if something goes wrong when you use the wrong parts (the pads on my car ended up burning the rotors), the dealer doesn't want to be held liable for a product fault.

I'm sure it's very different for something like a fluid change, most would probably say okay, but some might say no. I doubt you'd save the difference in cost anyways.

Won't hurt to stop by and ask.

especially being a safety item, but most places will probably do the work if you supply your own parts, but there will be ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY though, since they don't know the quality of the parts (even if it is better then the factory part)

Before I started going to Goodyear for my TL's service, I previously took my car to Honda- they then changed the policy of me bringing the fluid and filter and would only use what they supplied. I changed the shop (to GY) and they service the car to this day. Quick version, dealer may not, independent shop will.

Mine put up a huge fight. I was told the car warranty would be voided. The trans would die in 5 miles on that fluid, all kinds of crazy talk. They will try and scare you for sure. I would take it to an independent unless you can watch the dealer use your oil. That goes for an independent too. Make sure you can see them do it, they have been known to steal the good stuff and use their cheap bulk stuff.

Thats actually not a bad idea if you don't trust the place where your getting your car serviced at.

I've done it before and the dealership was okay with it. I think it really depends.

I use a Honda dealer to do all of my work and they have no problem using what I bring to them. But like said above, depends on the dealer. I would call your service manager and talk to him before going in.

Depends on the dealer. I dont have any problem if the customer has special requests or own parts. If parts are aftermarket they just need to be made aware that there is no warranty on parts or labor.
