My window/frame rattles time to time. I lowered the window a little bit and pushed it down to find out if the window itself rattles. To my surprise, I was able to push the window down almost a half inch! Is this normal?

NO....get it fixed. You should not be able to move a window with power windows. If you can, then someone can push it down a get into your car.

Hmmm. I wonder this has anything to do with the rattle I hear coming from the window/frame.....

I'm sure it does, I am also getting a rattle from the drivers side frame... started after a fix for a wind noise from the drivers side window door. Either way I would definitely get the car in to fix the window.

Because of the way the window regulators are designed nowadays, some play is normal. Compare it to the other side, and if it seems excessive, have the shop of your choice compare it to another TL.

I'll check mine at lunch & let you know how much play I have.

OK, I checked my car at lunch. If I rolled the driver's window down half way and tugged on the glass at the front where the leading edge meets the top edge (where it goes from diagonal to horizontal) it's nice & tight. If I pull on the back corner of the glass there is about 1/2 inch to 1 inch of play.

That's because the window regulator bolts to the glass near the middle, which is right under the area where the leading edge stops & top edge starts.

Is this what yours is dong?

BN:

All 4 windows do the same thing. I can press them down regardless of the position where I push them down.

Hmmmmm. I'd have it checked the next time you go in for service, but I don't think I'd want all 4 window regulators replaced just for the sake of attempting a fix. I'd really have to see it, but I feel some play is perfectly normal & won't go away with a new regulator.

I have noticed the same thing as well, the way I found out about it was when I rolled down the window to pay at the drivethru and when i rested my arm on the glass, the glass did move down about an inch. I believe its normal.
