can someone point me to the DIY replacing brake pads

My 6spd just ate my brakes too fast. I searched and only saw a pdf one but I know there is a diy with pics. I got the duralast cmax gold from autozone for $60, is there anything I need to do to lessen brake dust or prevent squeaks.
