I know that it's possible to update the maps on the navigation system by purchasing new dvd's, but I was wondering if the the programming of the navigation system itself was designed to be upgraded as Alpine developed new features, etc. For that matter, I'm curious if the operation of all the display interfaces (e.g. XM, tape, FM, etc.) can be upgraded in the future as well. Are those interfaces part of the Alpine system, or does Alpine only provide the navigation programs? Thanks.

 

This is possible, but we're not sure if Acura/Alpine are willing to do those upgarde for us. They may like to push customers buying new vehicles instead.

Lots of ppl are dreaming to get the upgrade in order to run 05RL's realtime traffic Navi system. Let's wait and see what Acura/Alpine would say in the end of 04.
