Camel Interior

Wondering if anyone who has the Camel interior can post some thorough high res pics. Preferrably on an anthracite or black exterior. The Acura site seems to only have pics of ebony. Thanks!

Camel leather interior

I actually ordered the Anthracite 5AT with Navigation System - until about two days ago. I saw the camel leather interior and it was a lil' too orangish/yellowish for me - please understand that is just an opinion. I was fortunate to be able to change the order to an ebony interior.

The camel interior can be difficult to get used to in different light - against the dark blue metallic, the leather was a lil' to overpowering .... anthracite may be different, but I decided that the darker charcoal was more appropriate. I have also heard that adding the dark wood trim accessories in the ebony interior can be sharp looking. One observation was that, in the camel interior, the black dash and door trim, combined with the black/aluminum console trim was somewhat difficult to absorb.

I have gone back a few times to check and re-check the decision I made, and concluded that the camel can be really nice (and anthracite may be the appropriate exterior match), but wasn't for me. I will try and drop by and take a few pics if possible.

I have an Anthracite/Camel on deposit. From what I understand that particular color combination will not be available until after the 22nd this month. I am eagerly waiting!!

You are right though, the pictures are hard to tell.

Question

I have a black/camel +nav on order. I am told it has a production date around Nov. 1. I have not seen any actual cars with the camel interior. I thought the chip in the brochure looked good, but what can you tell from a small chip. Now I am getting a bit worried, after hearing the comments on here regarding the camel interior. If anybody has any pics, I would greatly appreciate seeing them.
Also, does the camel interior come with the wood trim?

Camel

The 'swatch' in the brochure doesn't even come close to an accurate portrayal of the color - the wood accent is the lighter
version/color, while the accessory wood trim that can be ordered separately is the darker color. With the camel interior, the lighter wood looks the best.

I have heard some say that the camel with the black exterior looks nice - in my opinion, the camel interior can look OK. The 'drawbacks' that caused me to change to an ebony interior were ....

1. took much of a 'cluttered' look with the camel, aluminum and the black on the console, dash and the door(s).

2. the leather has a definite yellow/orange appearance

3. the abundance of the yellow/orange coloring, including the roof lining was simply overwhelming for me

In all honesty, I went back two consecutive days following changing the order to an ebony interior and the discontent with the camel color was reduced somewhat - it will probably be OK. But, I just though that the aluminum and black dasj/door trim would look better with the ebony.

Hope that helps. Even if the 'swatch' was the exact color, you still wouldn't get an accurate portrayal of the color because you need to see the entire area/cabin to understand the impact.

I test drove the Blue/Camel this past weekend. I thought the camel was beautiful and rich looking. It did come with the wood inserts. For what it's worth, my dealer thought that the camel looked the best since it blended with the deep color in the "wood" better (I know it's technically fake stuff but everyone agrees that it is impossible to tell). The wood made the interior a little more luxurious feeling. The camel might not show the dirt as easily as the parchment either. I didn't see any of the dark interiors to compare against.

I drove a camel/white TL last Sunday, and frankly, it appeared very "orangy" to me. They had a parchment black on the lot and it blended much much better than the camel. The pics on the site and in the brochure don't match the real camel. But, to each his own. The quartz looks very very nice, as does the parchment and the ebony. Camel would be last on my list. I'm leaning toward the SSM/quartz. Just my 2 cents.

I didn't think camel was available with white.

Camel / Ebony Contrast

I had a blue / camel 6-sp on order and after seeing the camel interior on a demo I'm in the process of getting the order changed. I like the camel color itself. I didn't find it too orange or yellow at all. What I didn't like was the contrast between the camel and the black dash/console/top of doors, together with the wood trim. For me it was just too much. I might get used to it. I might even grow to like it more than all other interior colors, but I might not. Plus, I don't want a car that friends get into and say (or think), OMG what were they thinking? My first impression when I saw it was that it looked like a mistake. An assembly robot gone bad, and somehow it made it past the quality inspectors.

BMW and Lexus both have this camel/black interior combination in some of their models, and I suspect that's what Acura was emulating. I've seen the BMW version and I think they pull it off a little better than Acura did, although I can't tell you exactly what differences made it seem more acceptable to me. I haven't seen that Lexus combo other than in pics on their web site.

Camel/Anthracite on Order

I have a Camel/Anthracite 5AT Nav on order. Dealer says build date is Oct 14th for delivery aroung Oct 25th.

I saw a Camel/Blue, Antracite/Ebony and White Parchment at the dealer. I drive the White Parchment - WOW.

I personally love the Camel interior. Not too yellow/orange for me. The contrast between the upper and lower dash and the wood (fake, but good fake) all work together well.

Can't wait

For me it never even crossed my mind to get anything other than ebony or quartz. I drive a SSM/Ebony right now and like the look because its sporty. It looks even more sporty with the aluminum inserts on the 04. When I was at my local dealer I happened to take a look in a green/camel as it was the only one with nav. I liked it becuase it is different. I would NEVER get parchment. I think that parchment is perhaps the most boring interior color ever made. So we'll see, its either quartz or camel for me. I am split on the decision for now.

sjpvt,
I have Black/ Camel, Navi + A-SPEC (Manual tranny) on order and I should get it sometime in November.
I drove a Black/Camel TL, and the color looks sweet man, and i would say that from all the rest , this one in particular looks rich.
It does look yellowish a little bit, but its beautiful.
Don't worry about what people thin about the color, because thats what you ordered, which means that, that is what you leaned towards when you saw the color combination.
All I can say is that we are on the same boat, and if it's that bad, you won't drown alone, and since that I saw, felt and drove the car with the same color, I can say that it's not a bad choice, actually its the best.

After thinking about whether to chime in about the interior colors, my opinion is that the camel is more "striking" than the other colors. Either it will strike you as gorgeous or as unattractive. Of course, this is an overgeneralization, and some people will find it "okay" and others may grow to like it. But if you accept my premise for a minute, it suggests you might want to see the car in camel before its too late to change your mind.

I've seen the camel on several different color TL's. My .02 is that the light colors make the interior look too busy. You have the light color on the seats and some of the trim. But then you have the aluminum, the wood, and the dark color on the dash and on some of the door trim. IMHO the quartz or the ebony blend in better with the rest of the interior.

I can't figure out why you need a camel and a parchment interior.

Umm... choices?

Look at the older Hondas, especially the Accords, they had like 5 or 6 different interior colors. Its all about variety and offering options to the buyer.

In the past, Honda has tried to slim down the color combo choices in the interests of keeping prices low but since this is Acura people will be more willing to pay more to get what they want.

Grey - but in a certain light, there is a minimal purplish undertone.
If you have ever seen the previous Anthracite (on 2003 and prior TL's), the 2004 Anthracite looks even better - saw it at the dealership yesterday.

Now that I've seen all 4 interior colors, I find Quartz to be easiest on the eyes. The Parchment just begs to show the dirt. The Ebony is...well.....just plain black. I think the Camel looks really rich, but I too have a problem with the way it clashes with the aluminum trim and black dash / door panels. However, I might be enticed if there was a woodgrain kit coming out from somewhere to cover the aluminum and more of the black.

Don't you think there's a reason why Acura uses the Ebony interior in the brochure's pictures and the Quartz interior on acura.com?

What really pisses me off is Honda Motor Company's long standing tradition of dictating which combinations of the available interior and exterior colors you can order. The Nighthawk Black Pearl is the only exterior color that allows you to pick any of the 4 interior colors.

Haven't done any attachments before so I hope this works. These are from the San Antonio Auto Show.

Here's another one of the back seat. I took these in fairly high res so I had to reduce them to add as an attachment.

I thought the camel interior looked very busy and cluttered...too many different colors and materials.

That has got to be parchment - the camel is more yellowish/orangish.

There was no window sticker so I couldn't verify it, but the salesman from the dealership said it was camel. I saw it a few days later at the dealership and it definitely looked more orangish in natural light. The pictures were taken indoors in a convention center.
