Calling all snowboarders!

How are you getting around with your boards?

I've been reading about removing the plastic frame from the ski port but nobody has posted any results..

I don't feel like coughing up $400+ for any type of rack either.. the only thing I can think of atm is putting my board in a board bag and throw it in my back seat. Now I need a new bag because my new hi-back bindings wont fit in the one I have now... GAH!

Anyhow.. solutions/comments welcome

edit: post #100 ...w00p

1 bag, 2 snowboards - in the backseat.
I rather like it since that means I don't have to take any passenger.

this is a 2G CL but i'm sure it's similar. you need to take out the rear seatback and then unscrew it

So do you just stick the nose in there? Im guessing the binding wouldnt fit.. so theres enough room for the trunk to close after you get the nose through the port?

I guess it depends how long your board is too though...

yup,
I had to put the board bags in the back, from floor to headrests on both sides with a ton of extra towels

I didn't have time to try and take out the pass through stuff.

Not bad if you don't have more than three people in the car.

taking the plastic door assembly will cause the arm rest to fall back into the trunk area if you fold it up while driving. its so annoying! but it may be worth it if you really want to fit your board through it.

find a friend with a truck and dont put your TL through that horrible drive up and down the mountain with all that gravel and de-icer

Thanks for the info. In that case I would probably just keep the armrest down for the whole winter. I am doing my absolutely best to find a way NOT to take my car.. it's not easy.

Gravel and de-icer..

My backseat cushion is always unbolted, will never reattach it. Whenever I go I just pull it out real quick and throw it in the house. Tons of room, like I got my hatch again! Comes in handy when you got to pick up something big for the house or adjust/install back suspension.
