Called Up LimeRock Today

LimeRock is a Track in CT. I talked to this guy and he said you will have a private instructor for first time bla bla bla and it will cost $2000. Even though ill bring my own car.
That is crazy money for just one day fun. This is why people who cant afford 2000 to throw away in 1 day race in streets and cant go to the tracks.
Let me know if you guys know any tracks not the Dragways but the tracks in which they DONT cost that much and u can just pay and do some hot laps and come back home happy.

Also check Local SCCA (http://www.scca.com/contentpage.aspx?content=36) and Local NASA (http://www.nasaproracing.com/hpde/index.html) sections. They often have track days and allow non-members to participate.

Around here there are Carolina Motorsports Park (http://www.carolinamotorsportspark.com/trackmap.html), Virginia International Raceway (http://www.virclub.com/the-track/) and Road Atlanta. CMP is ~$220 and that INCLUDES the instructor. VIR is similar.

Believe me, you don't have to spend $2,000 to get some track time. Just do some research for clubs/events/tracks in your general area.

you talked to a pro race academy, you need to look in the link section of the tracks website- there you will find things like Hooked on Driving, Mini Owners, Z-car owners etc.
Look them up and cross referance the track schedule of each days use. Most tracks have this all on the website.
The private clubs rent the track and the corner workers for a day, thats where you can pay $250 and there are instructors available, required for noobs, the teachers are licensed race drivers and advanced group drivers who like to help out others.
They are there for track time, and they usually get credit for practice time with the real race car on a future date.

I think its worth a try at least once. I never found out prices but I was lucky to go for 2 hot laps at Laguna Seca because my friend's dad is part of PCA and he races there pretty often. Really fun.

a full day a Laguna Seca with a program like I described is $350 with private group.
Laguna has high overhead opertaing-rental cost.

Sears Point- Infineon Raceway- usually 250-265 and Thunderhill $225-265

I hear the ones near Los Angeles are less-- for the west coaster members.
Some diligence and a few emails and phone calls will get you hooked up.
