California Window Tint Law

Does Anyone know what the deal is with window tint on your front windows in CA? I know that you can't have any whatsoever. I got a fix it ticket last month however I hear that with a doctor's note you will get it dismissed. I got my doctor's note now but before I make a fool of myself I just wanted to double check with California TL owners who know!! Thank guys. Btw I searched to see if my question could be answered before started a new thread but I didn't find a specific thread.

simple answer is: no tints what so ever in front passenger windows and on the windshield.
As far as back passenger, rear window can go as dark as you want

less than 30 second and i found it for you on Dmv.gov for you.

Can I put after-market tinting on the windows of my vehicle?

The main requirements for legal window tinting in California are:

1. The windshield and front driver's side and passenger's side windows cannot receive any aftermarket tinting.
2. If the rear window of a vehicle is tinted, the vehicle must have outside rearview mirrors on both sides.

The law prohibits any person from driving any motor vehicle with any object or material placed, displayed, installed, affixed, or applied upon the windshield or side or rear windows, with certain limited exceptions.

However, legislation signed into law effective January 1, 1999, exempts from the above prohibition specified clear, colorless, and transparent material that is installed, affixed, or applied to the front driver and passenger side windows for the specific purpose of reducing ultraviolet rays. If, as, or when this material becomes torn, bubbled or otherwise worn, it must be removed or replaced.

I live in CA and got the good ol tint ticket- had to remove the front doors- its easy.
Read the rest of the rule on the medical exemption- that is only for daytime use
and may not be used at night
So it means some dark plastic type material thats sticks on, or suction cup screen type device.
I know- I tried~

i believe that if you have the doctors note it should describe that you have astigmatism and says what percentage is needed to protect your eyes.... not really sure but pretty positive
