Cabin Filter Change
Cabin Filter Change
While changing the cabin filter on my 2006 Acura TL, a small black clip with two metal prongs came off from somewhere. The black clip also has a red retangular marking on it. I cannot find the location if where it fell off from. Can anyone help? Thanks

Not to hijack, but does anyone know what the little "push-pin" or carrot like grommets are called? You have to take two of them out when removing the glove box. I've done it for years with no issue. Managed to break both of them this year

Issues like these above were why I cut the access hole in my glove box area to prevent having these sorts of problems. I highly recommend that mod and there are no squeaks, rattles, or any downside that I see after having the mod for 5+ years. It takes almost as much time to empty my glove box than to swap the filter now.

Yup, changed (acutually checking cabin air filter since it was pretty clean still) my filter and after getting clips and screws off the right side popped off but the left was a pain and came tumbling those same pieces. I put it back in and trunk button stopped working. Got it to work!!
Make sure you put the switch with the red piece back in the upper left hand corner on the glove housing . When doing this make sure the red color is DOWN, so when the switch is pushed UP, the red shows on the bottom. Then throw the piece with gold contacts on top, then the blue or black housing to clip in which is attached to wires.
I had originally put the switch back in upside down. Hope this helps, is there still a plastic clip connected to the wires the switch connects to?
Edit: Yeah that mod for cutting a hole in the back of the housing is something that sounds really appealing now.....

Success! Thanks a lot guys. I originally put the valet coupling together and didn't realize that the valet switch was on the floor. Had a hard time separating the two and managed to figure out the proper positioning of the switch. Was thinking of doing the cut out mod, but it is not really that difficult. I worked at the Honda plant in Alliston for almost ten years, so I am familiar with clips and such. It was nice to do my own work. It reminded me of when I used to strip an entire door down and fix a problem and build it back up. We used to have competitions on how fast you could do it. Something like this and the side mirror lens change takes only minutes, but the dealership would charge you a full hour. Thanks again!
