Smile Bye Bye IS

So I owned a 05 TL Black on Black... my favorite car i've ever owned, which includes quite a few. After two years I recently traded it for an 07 IS350. The car is fast... BUT... I missed my TL badly! The Lexus is lacking the driving 'feel' of the TL. So with all its pretty finishes and gadgets, the IS departed after less than a month. I now have an 07 TL Silver Type S auto. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS CAR. (just wanted to share)

Just curious, can you go into more detail as to what you didn't like about the IS350?

Wow, only 3 posts with being a member since March 2005

I feel the same way about the IS350 also. I like the car, but for the price, it is not worth it

I test drove IS350 and didn't like the steering feel. May be that's what the OP is taking about.

I tested the IS250AWD when it first came out and the car was ok but it was just too small for me and im short (5'5). Even though its a nice looking car on the inside it just wasnt enough for me to even bother making a purchase.

Please elaborate on the IS experience.

While I have never been behind the wheel, I love the IS350. Has ventilated seats, too.

Nice choice.

I always thought that the exterior styling of the IS was hot, but the TL's interior styling is just perfect. I test drove the IS 350 twice and even though it's a nice car, my main beef with it is that it's just too small. It's like they tried to make a sedan out of a coupe body. I mean if I wanted a car that small I would have gotten a G35 coupe or 2-seater (Z4 or similar). However, even though I have no family and usually only drive myself, I just like the understated classy look of a fine (good sized) sedan, and the TL is certainly one fine sedan. Now if Lexus would make the IS 350 bigger (somewhere between the ES and current IS) and clean up the interior a bit, it would be HOT.

Oops, hope I didn't turn this into a car talk thread!

Wow, that is probably the quickest trade in I've ever heard of. Just curious, why didn't you also look at the 07 G35 sedan too before you got rid of the IS350?

The G35 is not that far off from the IS as far as size inside.

Damn, must be nice to be balling out of control.

I almost got an IS250, but when I found a used TL for less, black on black with the 6MT, I bought it. I also found the IS lacked the driving feel of the TL - Lexus definately is a luxury car, not that there's anything wrong with that, but I like how Acura adds lots of sport to the sport luxury equation.

This makes me happy.

I was one signature away from buying an IS350 but they just couldn't give me the deal that I was asking for. I was in love with the car, but looking back I just don't think I could have dealt with the tiny excuse for a back seat.

It may as well have been a coupe.

Welcome back!!

Then why do car reviewers compare the TL and the G35 then? Because both cars are in the same class.

We have an '05 TL and an '06 IS 250 AWD. While the IS wins in build quality, and has some other improved features such as a higher-resolution navigation display, at 6'2'' and 230# I much prefer the roomier cabin of the TL.

Curiously, I find the cabin of the TL-sized GS to be just as cramped as the IS.

I think my brother just found his IS. My brother is in the market of buying a IS350 and he found one in South Carolina. He talked to the guy at the dealer, which happened to be a Acura dealer, to learn some more info about the car. The guy at the delear went on to say that the owner of the IS traded in his TL for the IS. He also said that he came to the delear about a month later and traded the IS for a Type-S.

hay miclado,

how much did they give you for your IS350?
