Buying a spoiler off eBay

Anyone tried it/had any luck? I hear that you can run into problems (paint chips off, falls apart, bad installation gear) so does anyone know what to look for, or where to buy from?

I got mine from trimking, arrived in perfect condition and great paint job... installed in minutes (had to bend it a little like others reported) and looks identical to stock deck lid. No regrets, absolutely no reason to get stock spoiler.

Avoid xenonspecialist

Avoid xenonspecialist......absolute nightmare, when I finally got the spoiler (took forever) it was 4 inches too long for the vehicle. After several attempts he took it back ...at my expense for shipping. Then filed a non paying ebay alert, this was dropped but I would not use him at all. I did get a really good deal from Spoilerking and it was a much better quality although more expensive.

Rear Wing Spoiler on Ebay

I got a painted rear wing spoiler from a seller named exotictruck-auto. I was very concerned that the paint wouldn't match, or that it wouldn't be the same size and shape. After two weeks of waiting it finally came. The paint was 99% on, later someone told me it's the exact same paint, it just looks slightly different painted on metal or fiberglass.

I also took it in to the acura dealership and held it up to their's that the realized that they were not only the exact same size, and shape, but the piant on the fake on matched my car better. The only other way mine was different was it didn't have the acura logo on the bottom. (Which once you install it you can't see anymore.

I even got the dealership to install it for me becuase I couldn't live with myself if I screwed up drilling holes in my trunk.

Final thoughts: I looks great and I love it. Just make sure you get on that's already pianted.

I had the same experience with the vendor. In other words, I was/am very happy.

I bought from the same guy and it took over 4 weeks to deliver. They didn't answer their email and the phone just rang. I got someone one time but was "disconnected" while holding. I was getting worried because because of how long it took but everything worked out I guess. The spoiler looked fine and the paint match was pretty good.
The only bad thing was they shipped it Fedex home delivery signature required to my HOME address. Too bad I'm at work during delivery hours and Fedex home delivery won't let you reroute the package unless you are the shipper. The spoiler was shipped from somewhere in Texas and the ebay page said exotic-truck was in Florida so I wasn' t even sure if it was the spoiler or not. It was frustrating but I had to take half day to make sure I was at home during delivery.
Nice product but shitty communication and by shitty I mean no communication at all.

I was under thhe impression that we couldn't mention names but since we have named a few I'm going to take a shot and say that I bought mine and my son's spoilers at rdautoaccessories and they were a great vendor..the name of the lady/ girl that I spoke with was Trish and she was able to answer about the installation on both vehicles right out ... , she either sells lots of these or knows her product, 4 days after I placed the order UPS was dropping these off at my door, very well protected, installation instructions and great paint match, what else can I say oh, the price $170 painted and delivered... (BTW one piece wing)

Names are good. Good experiences or bad experiences are good to know.

As long as you don't own the place or are a shill, we encourage people to tell where they had either a good or a bad experience. This will help others make a more intelligent decision.

I strongly recommend Trim-King- I got my OEM like spoiler in WDP, and it was just like the OEM product. The Acura dealer wouldn't install it because it wasn't OEM. Also, just be aware the stronger springs (that keep the trunk open) aren't included with a non OEM wing, so on an incline, the trunk will self close more easily. Overall, definetely worth the $300 or so in savings. An aftermarket shop that installs alarm, etc. will usually install the spoiler for $75.

just to clarify, the trim king deck lid just sticks on... a monkey could install it, all you need to do is make sure it's lined up and follows the curve of the trunk edge. I guess erdoc48 must be talking about the wing which still requires bolts.

I also ordered a wing spoiler from exotictruck-auto (ebay) a couple weeks ago. It was delivered in less than a week, and the paint (NBP) matches great. Install was pretty straightforward.

Looking to buy a Deck Lid Spoiler. Could anyone give a recommendation of who I should buy from on Ebay and who to Avoid?

Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks

I am hearing and Seeing 2 different ways on how the Deck lid should be Installed.

What is the correct way?
Double Sided Tape or Screws?

Non OEM uses tape, OEM uses tape and screws. Tape has worked fine on mine

There's a very long thread dealing with buying spoilers on ebay. Do a search for it. trimking is one of the favorites. He is a little more expensive than some others but the quality is very good. I bought from him and was very satisfied. The tape that it came with seesm to be sticking very well.

I got the wing spoiler in NBP from:

http://stores.ebay.com/Acura-of-Esco...Q3amesstQQtZkm

Its a real dealership out of San Diego. I asked the guy piles of questions and he was really cool. Paint matches perfectly, it does have swirl marks though.. looks like it was buffed or something.. but I picked it up for $350 + shipping and also got a door lock cover without keyhole from him as well.
