Buying ADVICE please

I am about to purchase this car locally. I saw it for sale, and it was not advertised. It is a 2004 TL. Blue with camel interior and NAVIGATION. No other options that I am aware of. It has 30K miles. Some minor chips, curb rash on one rim bad. Tires all need to be replaced.

He is asking $24,500. Is this a good deal?

Check out Kelly Blue Book @ www.kbb.com and plug it in and see. A carfax would be good. Having a mechanic check it out. Going for a ride and let the owner drive to see habits. All ways of quantifying the price. etc...

Hmm. That makes me a little nervous since no one is saying it is a good deal. I have checked kbb.com and the price for fair is $24,314, good $25,600, and excellent $26,699.

Anyone pick up a 04 w/ navi for less than blue book?

It is really up to you to decide if it is a good deal or not. Some people pay full MSRP and say it was a good deal, some people pay invoice and said it was a good deal.

I would offer about $23000 (kbb fair price for my area) and work a deal from there. If this is 5AT you should not be having a hard time negotiation and making a deal, if it is 6MT is might be a different story.

there are plenty of '04's with similar miles and NAVI selling for the same. Good set of tires cost like 500-700 + replace a rim + alignment, you're looking at 1000 easily. I'd offer 22K or stay away

Thanks everyone. I am backing out of that deal. Deal got sticky too. It was a leased vehicle, so the buyer wanted me to sign a contract with a deposit until he bought the car back from the lease. Messy. Anyway, I will keep looking.

Thanks again for the imput.
