given your informative and well detailed opening post, i'm going to say YES it is a good buy!

OP, we need more details in order to give you an actual answer.

your guess is as good as ours.
you'll need to find out the condition of the body.
if any maintenance has been done.(there is a timing belt job required at 105k miles)
etc.

Maybe you should start by putting your info in for that carfax report. They aren't 100% accurate but it's something. Also how do they know it was done at 96? Any receipts of major tune ups or maintenance?

carfax stated the car has TB replace at 96k miles by Acura dealer.

OP look out to see what type of fluid they used in the last transmission service because seem the previous owner has it done at a lube shop which kinda scare me a bit, you might have to do 3x3 to get rid all of the junkie fluid out.

Have you looked at CL?
http://austin.craigslist.org/cto/3861001655.html. As a possible option.

Just keep in mind you will likely be on the hook for the timing belt replacement in approx a year.

Seems like a solid buy. Like Tyler said, you'll need new tires soon though. If in fact the previous owner replaced the TB at 96K miles, it would add some confidence to how it was maintained since they did the TB 10K miles early instead of waiting until the last minute.
