i usually go to one of those that costs 2 dollars for 4 minutes. i only use the water spray pre-soak, then the spray soap, then rinse off. don't use anything that actually touches your car.

the results arent bad, but LA water sure is hard and if you dont dry it off it will be nasty.

I use them for a quick rinse when I dont' have time to wash mines. I dont' expect for it to be flawless....just to get most of the dirty off so the build up is not too much.

I heard that the touchless places use detergents that are pretty harsh on your paint. Besides, taking your car to an autowash is basically giving your car a salt bath. All those minerals dissolved in the water from everyones dirt/road grime. That stuff can't be filtered out. Only reverse osmosis will get that stuff out, but nobody does that.

Be careful regarding rim damage also. I've read where others have received significant rim scratches from the rails/pulling mechanism if equiped....

Actually, I don't think that's all true. I believe that carwashes are required to put in a water collection tank which is pumped out by a truck and halled away to be treated properly. They don't think they just keep spraying the same old dirty water on you each time.

no one with a nice car should go to 98% of the car washes out there.

I'd never ever take my car to a commercial car wash...NEVER!!! I go without washing it until I can do it properly. I think it's OK to use a spray wash on the fender wells and under the car for someone who lives in a snowy area to remove salt, but those commercial car washes use recycled water, very harsh detergent, and it's just not good for the finish. I like my car too much to use a car wash.....it causes rattles and butprints too!!!!! j/k
