brand new acura 2004 tl .. smashed (pics)
well, it happened to me. i was sitting at a red light minding my own business early in the morning, on my way to breakfast.. and i heard this squeal of tires and see this pickup coming for me at like 60mph (heading toward the driver side of the car). it was all too fast or else i should've had the sense to put it in reverse and back up (given no one was behind me too). anyway, he smashed the front of my brand new 2004 tl (5,000 miles on it) and then proceeded into the telephone pole.
thankfully both of us were okay. he didn't have his seatbelt on. i did (of course because the TL "forces" you to wear it.. boy, was i glad about that). it's in the acura body shop now being repaired. hopefully it will be back to the way it was.
if he had hit me a few feet over on the driver's door, i know i wouldn't have been able to walk away from the wreck. it looks bad, and it feels bad that it's wrecked, but i'm still very thankful that it wasn't a lot worse. beware of bad drivers! they're everywhere!

Wow. Glad you are OK, and I hope you get a fair insurance settlement. I'd go over the car with a fine tooth comb after the shop finishes. I don't know how they could get the hood and the rest of everything else put back together RIGHT after an impact like that.

That hurts to view this travesty. The truck definitely took the worst of it. Was the driver drunk?

sell it when fixed and ask about diminished value as the resale on it is going to be lower( standard question has it ever been in a major accident?)

OUCH! Glad you weren't injured, and too bad about the TL Inanimate things can be fixed, however. It's a good reminder to all of us about wearing the restraining belts. I learned my lesson a long time ago. Points to you for your post.

Good to hear that you were not hurt. Looks like your TL took the hit well, giving credance about their 5 star impact rating. Since the TL took a big hit, even if it is not a direct head on, make sure that the suspension and frame gets thoroughly inspected AFTER the repairs are done . Sometimes insurance companies consider a car a total loss if the frame gets bend. Good luck to you. Regards

Good eyes! I was looking for clue where astudios mentioned that he live in SC. After 10 mins scrolling up and down reading each post, then it hit me, I didn't notice the wreck truck's front license plate until now.
Its been rainny for the past couple days in SC and ppl who live in SC does not know how to drive when it rains!

astudios,
I feel your pain and I am glad you are ok. I was in the same shoe like you but probably worst, the guy who rear end me does not have insurance and he ran away on foot. I really want to the bastard.

astudios,
I can't agree with everyone else here enough when they all say you were very lucky. Time and time again, the TL has proven to be a remarkably safe car. I am so sorry to see you had to prove it but at least you are fine. It pains me to see a WDP damaged like that but it's better the car than you. Hope you get your car back real soon.

You got a point! Let's hope all fellow TLs meet the Great One at a later time. This car is too much fun. Funny stuff though.

You can always replace a car, but your life is way more important than your car. Glad you were not hurt. Hope you can get the car fixed properly. If it's not perfect..and it should be with only 5000 miles, maybe you can contact your insurance company and have the vehicle replaced. It wasn't your fault, and you shouldn't be expected to accept a less than perfect vechicle after the repair. Good luck..and I'm sorry it happened. I feel your pain!

I would think that the frame (structure) of the car would be affected with a hit like this - just make sure that the car should not be a total write-off and the insurance company is not being truthful....could that happen?

Sorry about your wreck, but you are safe and that is what counts - you walk with the Lord, so your cup will be full always.
