Brand New '06 TL....

Hey guys i'm picking up my new '06 TL in one week. Was jus wondering what is the proper way to break the engine in? How long should I wait before I really get on it or should I get on it right from the start? Thanks....

Lots of different opinions on this..some say 600 miles, some say 1000, some say gun it from the start.

I would take it easy for for the first 1000 miles, but thats just me

I think 1000 miles would be a good figure. Need to vary your driving speeds during break in.

Happy driving with your new TL

Could anybody expand on this please? This will be my first NEW car. I am planning on taking it on a trip about 400 miles during break in. Good idea/bad idea? Will varying the speed between 60 and 80 count as varying the speed? or is that like too much top end speed for the engine break in period?

Also, i will have the manual. Is there a certain RPM that I should stay below? Is it okay to take it all the way up through 6th gear during highway driving?

As far as the brakes go, I know when i buy new brakes on my old car, they tell you to not do any hard stops for the first 100 miles. Is this the case with the new brakes of a new TL?

ANYTHING else you can think of or advice would be terrific. I am looking for AS MUCH advice as I can get on this topic. Please and Thank you

can't go wrong if you follow this

What is the break-in period of my Acura?

Help assure your vehicle's future reliability and performance by paying extra attention to how you drive during the first 600 miles (1,000 kilometers). During this period:

Avoid full-throttle starts and rapid acceleration.
Avoid hard braking. New brakes need to be broken in by moderate use for the first 200 miles (300 km).

Thanks. I would still appreciate more input beyond what the owners manual says about it.
