Exclamation Brand Name Window Tint

I have plans on getting my 2005 Acura Anthracite w/ Navi tinted tomorrow. I'm torn between the different brands. After reading the All through all tent post, I have yet to see one dedicated to brand reviews. I've read that Formula 1 Pennacle, Hyper Optik and 3M CS series are the best brands. On a scale between 1 and 10 how would you rate Solargard, Lumistar. 10 being the best.

Also, does anyone know of an highly reputable tint shop in San Diego, CA

IMO, there are a number of quality films on the market. At this time there are only two ceramic films on the market, one being F1 Pinnacle and the other being Huper Optik. Both these films are regarded as hi-perf film and granted, more on the expensive side of the spectrum. When installed, it does not interfere with the electronic/GPS signals . The 3M CS series film was developed to do the same thing however it is a dyed film and warranted not to fade. Solargard has has a NR line and an HP line as does Llumar. The NR line is dyed and the HP line is metallized. Metallized film is the more popular type and many folks like the look of it. Here are some links to Madico, Llumar, Solar Gard, Formula ONE, Huper Optik and 3M CS. I have never used Solar Gard and I would give the Llumar an 8 because of widespread availability. It's the installer who makes the product look good. BTW, I have F1 Pinnacle on my windows.

As for a reputable shop, PM Lokius, he's from the SD area and he could give you some heads up on installers/tinters.

Thanks Hawhyen51 for your reply, I made a call in to a dealer who installs the Formula 1 Pinnacle Series and their prices, to me seem to be a lil bit high ($460.00) for the all four doors and rear window including moleskin. I'm not sure if thats reasonable or not. Unfortunately, they they are located about 50 miles outside of SD. I couldn't find any other local dealer that installs 3M CS Series or Huper Opteik. I do prefer the hi-perf film, so I look forward to hearing from PM Lokius. Thanx once again!

Check M&M tint on Andreason in Escondido, near the auto park. I had 3 cars done there over the years. I moved away about a year ago but if they are still there with the same owner they do nice work and are reasonable.
