Brake pedal clicking
Does your brake pedal slightly click when you are driving? I just noticed it today. Is it part of the break in period? My car is 5 days old and has about 500 miles on it. I've been doing about 70MPH mostly below that. There was a couple of times I punched it but for like a good 3 seconds other than that I haven't been doing anything to it.
I have a 2000 civic that I hear a similar click but that's when I'm in Park and switching to Reverse or Drive. Both TL and Civic are automatic. Any guesses? Don't think it's serious but I'm just concerned.

Mine has that clicking sound all the time when I step on the brake pedal. I am recording all the problems I am having and plan to send my TL into dealership soon in the near future. So far, mt TL has issues of: seat memory lost, moonroff control unit rattle, speaker rattle while using HFL, brake padel clicking sound, front passenger side rattle (have not figure out where the heck that sound comes from).

It is the rear brake light switch, and if it's annoying you the dealer will replace it. I had that problem, took it in, they checked the floor model, no clicking, so they ordered me a new piece and put it in and ever since no clicking whatsoever, it's been about a month since I had this done.

Mr Moderator: Did you know you could post a reply without writing anything? That is what happened above. I wanted to click on Advanced but hit Post Quick Reply in error and it went right in. Can you fix this to edit on content please?

My 94Legend has this symptom since the first year. It's very minor and stays like this since then. 04TL sometimes has this too, but it's not so consistant as my 94Legend so far.
My dealer once told me it's quite normal for my 04TL as long as the sound is not getting louder and oftener.
Some ppl here have the replacement already and you should check with your dealerhsip if it's abnormal and keep bothering you.

When I first got my TL, I noticed this clicking and searched the forum. There were several prior threads like this one, and pretty much everyone agreed that the clicking is a relay or switch or something like that for the brake lights. Made sense to me, and since it doesn't bother me, I thought nothing more of it.
But one day when I was waiting in my car for someone, I happened to notice that I can slowly depress the brake pedal just enough to get the brake lights to come on - and yet not enough to cause the click. When I push ever so slightly further, I get the click. So I can turn my brake lights on and off with a gentle press of the pedal without ever getting the click, yet the slightest further depression of the pedal causes the click.
So now I'm thinking the click is NOT a relay or switch for the lights, but rather some other mechanism, or maybe just a random noise from the way Acura designs the brake. I don't really care, since it still doesn't bother me (I only notice it once every few days anyway even though it is happening all the time).
But just to be the devil's advocate, I'm curious to know if others can duplicate my experiment - that is, get the brake lights to turn on (and off) without the click.
Or maybe we should all find something better to do.

Thanks for the replies.
So it isn't the light switch/relay.
And not all people have it.
Sounds like a mechanical noise of no importance that is related to how Acura/Honda designs the brake pedal mechanism.
I wonder what the dealer does to fix it? I probably won't ever bother asking them to, but I'm curious anyway.

I just took my car in today about it since I'm concerned about my baby. You know how it is to be a new Father - every little thing you have to make sure! Anyway the dealer contacted Acura just to make sure and Acura said that it is normal. "There's a space between the caliper and the pads for heat desipation which may cause that clicking sound" - something like that. I kinda lost attention after they said that it's normal lol . Cool thing was they offered a vacuum and a wash which I'm not used to. I took the vacuum offer, I'd rather wash myself - it's the enjoyment I get on the weekends especially when cars drive by and look

Thanks for the info. Some people report having had this noise fixed, though. I wonder what the dealers did in those cases.
Anyway, so far that's my only "issue" with the TL. What a great car.
