Brake Pads?

Hey guys I'm in need of some feedback. I got the Duralast Gold brake pads for my car and they're horrible. They squeak sometimes, have a lot of dust on them all the time and whenever I try to slow down it makes my steering wheel vibrates and it makes my car shake like it's going to fall apart. I was searching some previous posts and I got confused on which ones I needed to get(Brembo, Non, Ceramic? hell I dunno lol). I have a 2007 Base TL Auto Tranny BTW thanks.

your shaking issue is due to rotors warping or pad deposit due to improper bedding after installation. Machine your rotors/get new ones and pads.

What thoiboi said, the vibration and more than likely squeal is from the shot rotors.

Warped rotors are usually the cause. Did you change them when you put the pads on? Improperly torqued lug nuts will cause rotors to warp more than anything aside from hard crazy driving. When the wheels are put back on AND with your NEW rotors in place, make sure they tighten them to 80 ft-lbs

Sounds like it's your rotors to me too. The typical rule I've seen as I was researching on what brakes to get for my 07 TL Type-S is that you should only keep your rotors if you're replacing your pads with the same type of pads or if you get them machined. And as far as machining goes, the general consensus seems to be that it's not really worth doing unless you can get them done by someone that has a wheel-mountable lathe. Let me ask you this though: Have you bedded in your new pads? That could absolutely be the difference for you. If you tried to re-bed them now, you should be able to burn off the unevenly deposited material on your rotors that is more often than not the cause of "warped" rotors and vibration when stopping. The method I used for bed-in when I put everything on last week (granted, I got stoptech sport pads and this is their directions for those specific pads) was to take my car out somewhere with little to no traffic and accelerate to 70-80mph and hit the brakes hard until I got down to about 15-20mph, then accelerate back up to 70-80 and repeat. Stoptech's directions call for 10 stops like this and then a 15-20 minute cooldown period so that you don't overheat your brakes, followed up by ANOTHER set of 10 stops to really get them bedded in properly and another cooldown period. You are definitely supposed to smell brakes during the first set of stops, and you most likely will on the second set too. Make sure that you DO NOT come to a complete stop though, as that can cause uneven pad deposits and negate the point of you trying to burn off and replace uneven pad deposits with nice smooth ones :P

In your situation, it sounds like you've got nothing to lose since the rotors would have to come off any other way. If the bed-in doesn't work you may as well try to return the pads for some fresh ones while your rotors are off too, because hey, lifetime warranty and you have to take all that stuff apart to remove the rotor anyway!

Vibrations are definitely caused by the uneven pad deposit, or "warped" rotors you have. Switch to one of our XLR8 Stoptech brake kits to get better braking performance and reduced brake fade, and no warping!
