Brake pad and rotor advice

I drive an 07 TL-S and I am in need to change the brake pads and rotors...I'm pretty sure that I am still riding on originals...

Owned the car for about half a year now and its deff time to change them!

I just wanted to get some advice on what types and brands to go with.

visit excelerate performance.

I bought Powerslot slotted rotors with a ceramic pad.
does not dust and provides good stopping power.

If you want to take it to the next step, order some Stainless Steel Brake lines!

^^definitely check this out. excelerate also has a full rotor and pad kit for a pretty good price for acurazine peeps. i have my set, but have not installed yet. hated the brembo pads b/c of the dust and the wear life was bad on my fronts (got about 25K in mixed city/hwy). the brake dust was unreal (by next day after a wash-wheels black). i put on hawk HPS pads with the OEM rotors, great stopping power and a hell of a lot less dust (takes about 7-10 days to notice a dust layer). i have hawk HPS pads on the back on brembo rotors---squeals like i ran over a cat everytime i back up into the driveway or when its humid/wet out on initial gentle braking. its annoying to say the least, but waiting until the fronts wear a bit more before just switching to the powerslot/stoptech kit for all four corners i have in waiting.

also, there are a many members that run rotoras, powerslot/stoptech, brembos...for rotors and combo'd up with any number of pad brands and types. some work well togther and others...well make a lot of noise. lots of threads on the topic, you just have to decide what you want out of your brakes and how much you would like to spend.

my thought if you're gonna replace, why not upgrade a little (i'm not saying BBK or anything, but aftermarket OEM replacement)?? especially if price is comparable to OEM. hope this helps.

i'm pretty sure brembos. if it has the acura painted on the caliper...then yes brembos. since i was not as fortunate to be in the market for the type-S when i bought mine in '05 (ugh, had it been out i'd have a type S). oh well. still love my car nonetheless. upside with the dusting on the S, the wheels are darker, so it's not as obvious. its still there though. yuck.

i use a wheel protectant and it keeps my wheels virtually dust free at least a week....and the original oem brembo pads lasted to 47,000 miles...even when i put the new ones in they still had some life left

Sounds like you are in the same situation i was just in. Need brakes, but dont wanna spend too much. I just wrote this yesterday but this may be of help...
https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-performance-parts-modifications-112/brakemotive-aftrmkt-rotors-pads-installed-today-810516/

Its more of a write up of the problems i ran into, but the link for what i bought is on there too.

I believe you have the type s, which means brembo. I have the 5AT and i know they have the 5AT in stock, but you should call and double check on the stock of the brembo-sized rotors. Good luck.

I bought the TL-S about a half a year ago...got a really good deal on it!

The car is now 3 years old and has 35k miles on it (which is pretty good I think) and i think its time to replace the brakes and tires which are still all original...even tho the rims are gunmetal they only stay clean for a few days after a wash

The brembo pads dust too much for my liking. Like you said, I have to clean my rims every three days just to keep them clean. I'm in the same boat as you and have to change pads and rotors. I just bought slotted brembo rotors for the front and powerslot for the back with Hawk HPS pads for all four. Once summer rolls around, I'll have them installed along with all the other mods so I'll have a review of everything then.

Ooh nice sounds like a good combo...so now I have more questions lol...

What is the difference between the slotted brembos and the drilled ones?

Another question is...the Hawk HPS pads are composite...is that better then ceramic?

And yet another question...the TL-S has a rear drum style parking brake or an intergrate parking brake? Just asking cus I saw a difference in the rear pads.

your answers to your questions can be found using the search function. so many threads and many that debate the differences/pros/cons of drilled and slotted rotors, slotted, and drilled only. just read and research...the answers already exist. not trying to be difficult, just trying to point you in the right direction to find the answers for yourself and then decide what you want.
