Bone stock TL type S - First mod suggestions?
Hi Guys/Gals,
I'm new here and I just purchased a 2008 TL Type S. I came from a long line of Acuras but ever since I own my first TL, I fell completely head over heels for the 3rd gen model. Everything about it is PERFECT!
Now since I finally own the car of my dreams(since 6 years ago), I like some suggestions on modding it. My car is an auto so performance and speed are low priorities. I'm mainly going for appearance.
Most of the TLs in the gallery looks amazing, but I really can't decide on what to get first.
Budget for 1st mod is 1K(according to the wife) <-- Yeah I know, unfortunately, she's the boss.![Tomato](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/tomato.gif)

Thanks a bunch!

Mr. Detail
Not sure other than a good detail there is much to be done with the exterior, personally, I think Acura got the lines right with the 3rd gen cars. Maybe window tint if that hasn't been done.
J-pipe is what I'd do, even the ones that eliminate the 3rd cat add very little noise. The added midrange torque is perfect for cars with an automatic.

^ $1000 wont get you all of that (unless you buy them used and in ok condition). Plus the steering wheel is discontinue (happy hunting on that) and the overly price badge.
New:
Lip kit: 700+
Susepnsion: 600+
Wheels: 1000+
OP could check the black market and see if he can find a good deal.
I vote for A-spec lip kit since they are becoming more difficult to find in specific colors due to them being discontinue.
OP what color is your TL-S?

Tints are always a good first mod. After that, it's "what do you want?" You must decide on aesthetic or performance mods.

Thanks guys! WOW - I think I came to the right place for suggestions.....you guys rock!
Yeah - I am not much for performance at the moment, mainly aesthetic........I've searched the forums for group buy and there seems to be a few dealers that are selling ASPEC kits. For those who bought one here, who did you went with?
750$ is definitely a deal......the cheapest I've been quoted is 790$ shipped.

Biblekan,
I'm in an identical situation as you - new car (mine's an 07 type S with 15,500 miles - perfect like yours), about a $1000 budget, and liking the wheels enough that I'm not anxious to get new ones. I wanted to address the major needs along with the best bang for the buck. Here's the route I took:
Performance:
I know you're not so interested here and there's only a few things that can be done affordably, but getting a j-pipe is probably the best bang for the buck that will give you a few more ponies and will make the car sound a little more aggressive when you put your foot into it but it won't drone. $450 shipped if you can take advantage of free shipping offers available.
Appearance and stance:
If you're keeping with the stock wheels, you should look at spacers - 15mm front and 20mm on the rear. They really change how the car looks. $150 shipped Akata brand, more for Ichiba.
Addressing the wheel gap, with a budget in mind and after a lot of research, I went with H&R Sports springs. I don't ever plan on going low (I'm too old for that) and 1-1/4" to 1-1/2" will do just nicely. $222 shipped.
I spent a few extra dollars here and there on some odds and ends that will indiviaualize my car: $110 on color matched splash guards, $25 on an "ACURA" domed decal for the front bumper and $27 on fog light bulbs to match the headlights. I do my own installs so my $1000 budget (which is now gone) could be spent on parts as opposed to labor. Hope this helps.

A-Spec kit, a used set of lowering springs, 15/20 mm spacers, tint, and LED interior and plate bulbs (in order of what you should get first) should do the trick, and would get you really close to $1,000 (maybe a little over), but would really make it look great while maintaining that OEM look.

The first thing I did was the LED conversion. Make sure all your maintenance is up to date first before spending on mods! I suggest the A-Spec Kit, tint, and LEDs bulbs. That should be around 1k.
But it's really up to your taste. A lot of folks will lower their car before doing anything else. Do some lurking first. Congrats.

Thanks for all the input guys!
After reading everyone's comments, I ordered the Aspec kit and window visors. Now I am looking for some good springs and shocks(back shocks are shot).
Any suggestions on springs and how low should I go?
I am thinking around 1.25 to 1.5 inches.
