jarl, I too was considering body side molding. Even my dealership steered me away from them. You lose the lines of the car when those are on. Go without them and park alittle farther away from everyone !!!!

does it really look that bad w/ it? I'm gonna be away for college, so parking it up there is gonna be too risky. I'm sure there will be cars parking both sides of me. Also, my mom is considering getting body side moldings, too. She has a 04 MDX, whats the price on that? Self installation?

I thought about getting it on my car when new- I have a neighbor who has an AM car like mine with the BSM, and it looks like an add on (doesn't go with the car as well). Plus, it's no guarantee that you won't get door dings. I agree with everyone else- find a space away from other cars.

Over time it's highly likely you'll have a lot less nicks with the moldings. Your issue then is one of looks only. It's a personal choice. I park in an area of reserved spaces at work, with a lot of higher end cars. The G35s, ES350s, Avalons and other cars without side moldings all have glaring door nicks (probably not from the work parking lot). Those with modings are clean, or with minimal nicks.

My car came with the moldings, I'd rather change a molding then repaint an entire door.
It's a matter of preference, I don't think they look that bad.
Check with Tim at hondaacuraworld.com, they have instructions, there are also instructions in the FAQ section here.

Korrupted, ur car looks pretty good with the body molding. I know that Acura dealers try to screw u in different positions if u get it there, anyone knowwhere could I get them cheaper? Are they easy to install and take apart?

Tim is reliable, I'd rather deal with a reliable person.

I have the BSMs and I think they look fine. In my opinion they provide a nice counterbalance to the groove further up the door. But I do not remember how much they were since it's been almost four years.

Exactly!!

It's funny how this discussion keeps coming up. The amount of brain power placed on "to BSM or not BSM" overpowered politics in late 03 and early 04 - when the 3G first came out..

Statements like: "I used to have them on and i liked it then i took them off and don't know what tl drivers WITH them are thinking" need be left unsaid.
- Besides, anyone older than 16 shouldn't give a rats ass what someone else thinks about their BSM preference.

Me, I've had them from day 10 on my 04TL. Ordered them the day I brought it home. I understand why those that don't have them like it as well as why we that do, do.

I like the TL without them as well yet don't mind it with them on at all - and I feel a little more comfortable about the fact it may save me a few dents in the event I have to park in an undesirable spot..

For the OP - in 04 I paid $120 plus shipping. Took all of 30 min to put them on. The kit comes with it's own template.

Good luck.

I'll send you mine that I took off for shipping..They are NBP One of mine was coming off so I removed them all, looks like i'll have to have one door repainted, they were on so long the clear started wearing off. I like 'em off, even with the door a little messed up, easier to clean and wax in that area, and besides the only two door dings I've gotten are up high, I've noticed a lot of suvs and the likes don't come close to hitting the middle part of the doors. One of my dings I know is from my wife's Rendevous, although I can't prove it.

The Door Defenders are meant to be removed when you go to get into the car. You only use them when you're parked.

Here are some pictures of BSMs on my NBP; the first was taken in May 2007 after I had it detailed and the second two were taken in April 2005 after I detailed it myself.

They are priceless.

I have seen so many cars in my fine state with dings and scratches the size of a quarter and less. I have none, except for a few scrathes on the molding that I rubbed out.

So weigh the options. Giving up your fine lines for BSM or giving up your fine lines for scratches and dings.

But you know lazy people won't remove them, like those rubber bumper mats.
