Body damage question.

Greetings all,

A couple months ago someone hit my car, while they were turning left while looking right. There were no injuries and the damage is pretty minimal, however as bodywork often is, it's damn expensive, estimated at about $2k. The payment has been made to me in cash so is free to use how I see fit. Nothing functional was damaged, my car is at 196k and I intend to drive it until it is just irreparable. So as such, my only concern really is rust and I think I'm going to pocket the badly needed cash for other needs. My main question is what can I do to avoid rust damage causing real issues and can I do anything myself about the denting and gouging (no damage to anything but the panel)? Are there any other things I should keep in mind or do to take care of my poor TL?

Clean it well and then apply touch up paint. That will prevent the rust (or at least mitigate it).

Any suggestions for finding a reasonably matching paint and method to do it myself?

You can find oem honda touch up paint (it comes in pen-shaped container, that has paint on one end, and clear coat on other) online. I got one for my car some time from Amazon. Just need to find the paint code for your car. Google how to get it, but it should be on the sticker on driver's door or B pillar.
