Paint Chip Questions......
Paint Chip Questions......
Guys, I got my car a few weeks ago. On the initial inspection I noticed a small paint chip directly under the drivers side door. It's really small.....but somewhat noticable (at least to me). The sales manager said he would take care of it, and I finally had time to drop off the car yesterday. I called today and they took care of it really late. Now, I didnt see the job yet so I cant make any comments. The reason why I question this is the body/paint vendor they use didnt get to the dealership until 4ish or so....and they were finished with the car within the hour. Is there really a way to touch up a paint chip and have that section look brand new?? Some method that pros use?
If all they did was add a few drops of paint on there, I'll be pissed...I could have done that myself. Now, the question I have is.....worst case, the job looks bad. Is it unreasonable for me to ask that I take care of this myself at a body shop of my choice and they pick up the bill (there is one by my house that absolutely RULES). Or should I bring it back there AGAIN and see what they can do...the second time? Important variable to consider is that this dealership is 60miles from my house...... I honestly dont want to go there again and I just hope they fix it right the first time.

I guess it all depends on how it was "chipped"... Could it be buffed out? Wet-sanded? Or was it sufficiently deep enough that paint was required?
Some of these guys can do really good work, regardless of what is needed to be done. Try not to worry about it. If it's not to your satisfaction when you get the car back, then let them know you're not satisfied.

Oh man, I've hear horror stories about dealers filling paint chips. Many times some moron is given the challenge to fill them and just dabs the paint on with the brush
I hope they know what they are doing on your beautiful car.
