bluetooth adaptor
Picked up my white/parchment tl yesterday and I LOVE it. I spoke to AT&T Wireless about an adaptor for my phone to use with the bluetooth. Does anyone know anything about these adaptors as far as how well they work? I recently got a new phone and don't really want to pay for a new one, but the price of the adaptor, $130, may not be worth it if I can get a deal on a phone. I am just curious to know if anyone has one or knows about it. Thanks. Halmar

$130 is definitely not worth it. Last I looked the Siemens S56, as an example, was $50 (after rebate) on Amazon.

The adapter wont work most probably..
They are not TRUE Bluetooth and dont have the handsfree profile software that the TL Requires..
U are better off buying a T610 or something for $50-100 w/ new contract.. Sell your current phone and buy one on t610 else

I've done a bit of research on this. There are two types of Bluetooth phone profiles: Headset and Handsfree. The TL requires the Handsfree. Most headset adapters or bluetooth adapters are not Handsfree profile they are Headset only. Same goes for Bluetooth memory cards (compact flash, secure digital, memory stick) that can be used with PDA/Phones, they don't support the Handsfree or Headset profile either and therefore won't work with the TL.
Unfortunately, here in the USA we have a limited choice on Bluetooth phones that work with the TL. Hopefully the cellular providers will step up to the plate and get more Bluetooth phones on the market, but for now we are stuck with the handfull that they currently sell.
These companies are very competetive and with the new legislation that will let us keep our phone numbers when we switch, they will have even more competition. With the holidays approaching, hopefully they will be pushed into offering some new phones to get the edge on their competition, but don't expect much information from them ahead of time.
I have no choice but to wait a few more months since my Verizon contract isn't up until next March. I hope they have something by then as I will probably be buying a TL in the next month or so.
