Blacked out Headlights

Has anyone noticed that their headlights are not as bright after they black them out?
I really want to try this mod, but don't want to make my headlights any dimmer, I love My HID.

TL headlights are projector HID's.... meaning it does not require reflectors, so blacking them out will not effect the brightness.... it may effect the brightness of your foglamps though....

If you use the smoked film from rockblocker, then yes you will lose light output from the HIDS. If you black them out though they will still be bright as can be.

The only light output that is reduced is the turn signal unless you leave the reflector. Check out my thread.... https://acurazine.com/forums/ramblings-12/outkast-album-year-2003-a-130132/ I go into details there.......

You should do this, it looks so much better, especially in NBP....

I agree! I just did mine this weekend, and it looks AMAZING. I think the fog lights are also reduced too (the turn signals definitely are).

Anyone have any problems with condensation inside the headlights yet, that is my ultamate fear, whild doing this mod, I am probably going to try it on my next two days off, if it isn't raining (Dang NW)

I'm planning on following PPLAPW's instructions this weekend. I'm house sitting for my parents while they are away and will have an extra car to use in case I fuck anything up.

PPLAPW you might get a PM from me at some point asking a clarifying question.

morgan040 - So far no condensation. It shouldn't happen as long as you apply LOTS of silicon and let it cure, and then add more....... Just to be safe, when I mod my front bumper within the next week I will apply more silicon to be even safer....... I live in the NW too, and if you notice in the pics it was raining the day I did my headlights. I'm glad I have a garage......

I just did the film on mine .. 38% and no not Rockblocker brand, I find them pricy, I only paid $20 for the headlight kit.

I modified ( cut ) it so it only covers the amber area. I wanted the HID / DRLs left with full output. The film I used also is removeable / reusable so if I have to remove it I can reapply it.

Look at PPLAPW's thread on how to do it. I followed what he did (less the painting) and didnt not run into any problems. Dont use gorilla glue, peopel who have seen my car on this site will tell you why.
