black roof

I have a WDP TL, I am really considering getting the vinyl for my roof to make it black ( I would paint it but my car is leased). I was just wondering if you guys could post some comments and let me know if you think I should do it or not? Thanks a lot guys...

I did it on my RL. I think WDP would look nice with black vinyl top

i think this is a good concept...especially since your car is leased but ive seen two TLs in the area already that have the vinyl on top and it seems that after time the vinyl faded. Now i dont know personally if its because of the type or brand of vinyl used or if it wasnt taken care or properly but from day 1 it looks as though it was painted and a couple weeks later it looked really faded. Maybe other members who did this can give thier about it since i dont know about it first hand but im just giving my opinion based on what ive seen. I wanted to do this also but it seems like painting it is the better way to go.

What do you guys think of painting the roof NBP on my Anthracite? I love how the black roof looks on Anthracite (AnthAspec's car to be precise!), but I think I'd rather paint/clearcoat since I own the car and don't have to give it back. I'm sure there are different vinyl qualities, no? And with being in CO and having a lot of days with strong sun, I'd be worried about vinyl fading.

Buddy, if you love the look-painting it is definitely the best way to go. Have you considered carrying it on down to the hood of the car too?

Ive had Vinyl roof overlay for 1 1/2 years now. My almost recent thread is here

https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-photograph-gallery-96/zano-paint-cleaner-swirl-removal-1z-einszett-polish-colinite-845-wax-sealer-%3D-sex-719328/

Notice how glossy it looks. With proper care and correct uses of waxes + sealers you can make it look really good. As for paint once it's on thats it man. Your going to fork out soo much more to get it back to WDP if you hate it. IF it swirls up you can toss vinyl. If paint swirls up you need either a good buffing or a new paint job. If it gets scratched well you can toss vinyl, if it's paint.. you get the idea.

The reason most people's vinyl gets scratched or faded is because they do not spend the extra $ to laminate it first... this is a must for exterior use vinyl.

FYI most vinyl warranties only cover your car (ie. the paint) if the vinyl is left on 1 yr or less.

just paint it if u like it that much & repaint it before u turn it in.... or speak to the dealer & see how much of a loss you might actually take/if any.... i painted my roof blk, but i own my car, so i dont have to worry about the lease thing.... but i'd just paint it
