Black or Grey Leather

I live in Las Vegas and I'm looking at getting a used TL. I've noticed the leather has perforated seats which helps with cooling. I was just wondering how much hotter the black leather over the grey would be in the summer when it's going to be like 110 degrees.

Any inputs on which color looks better? They both look pretty sharp to me with maybe the grey looking a little nicer.

Also, did Acura change the grey leather for the 2007 update? It seems a little lighter than the used 04-05 TLs out there.

Thank you

Get black, then tint you windows and when parked use a sunshade in the windshield, that will make it bearable. I even leave a few windows down a quarter inch unless it is going to rain.

Some good tips in this thread. You may even want to put towels on the seats while parked in the sun. Tint will help an the sun shade too.

I have to disagree with every one regarding color. I've always felt black looks worse faster. Kind of like how a black car shows imperfections and dirt more, so does black leather. As long as the gray is kept clean, it will stay pretty.

The gray interior offers some nice contrast compared to one that is all black, but to each their own.

That is one reason I like the grey interior. I have black leather on my current car that is not perforated and when it gets hot the heat does not seem to want to dissipate. I can feel it on my back for a while. That is why I'm wondering about the perforated leather on the black interior. Do you guys think it will be much better or is just going to be hot as hell in 110 degree summers?

Thanks for the tips, I'm probably going to get it tinted...

Have black in my TL, gray in my BMW. The gray is the cooler of the two but there is not a really great difference between them in the Carolina sun.

Look for shade when you park

+1

I have grey and love it. From recent history with friend's and family cars, black leather wears out and gets rips quicker (if you don't treat it) than other color leather. Plus the grey doesn't get as hot as the black in my cousin's is300. Grey ftw.

grey ftw. black shows cracks very easy and looks like crap after a few years due to this.

Get black or grey, proper window tint will keep the tint out. I have the Gray Interior (official name is Quartz) and it gets warm out in the florida sun, but I have 35% tints. As far as color, the 04-06 had Quartz, which was a darker grey. The 07+ has no grey really, just Taupe which is a really light grey/tan color.

I have the Quartz (gray) and I love it. I had black leather in my last car and hated it, gets too damn hot in the summer. The black looked really good though when its new.

I saw a 05 red TL with beige or a yellowish leather, and the leather looked really messed up. In my 08 the black leather gets dirty to fast. I would get the really light whiteish beige.

Here is the TL I might get. They are offering me 15,900 and I'm going to try and talk them down to 15 even. It has the grey interior.

I test drove an 07 and it looked very sharp with the grey. I haven't had a chance to sit in on 04-06 TL, but from this thread I found out that it is a different shade of grey...quartz?

I was just wondering if you guys that had it thought it looked sharp as well. It looks a little dull but I can't tell from the pictures.

Thanks for all the advice!

not sure of i have ever seen the darker grey, but the lighter one is not a favorite of mine. in general, i think all colors other than black are too light. i wouldnt mind the tan/parchment/whatever, but it should have been darker.

i say ebony all the way

I also prefer the black or parchment colors, but sounds as if you like the grey the best and that's all that matters

To give you an idea of the color of the leather, look at the color of the edit/post button right at the top of it, that's kinda like the grey color.
