I tried using soap but its still black. Makes the car look old.
What are you guys using to get rid of this, and is this a common problem with TL's?

its just the deposits that come out your tailpipe.. its common to see on just about all Honda vehicles.. If ya don't let it sit on too long, ya can usually just scrub it right off.. if it doesn't come off, ya can always replace your tips.

The other options, in order of cost, are to paint the tips matte black or replace them.

Check to make sure that the black is not some sort of deposits (road tar? asphalt?) or corrosion under the chrome. Otherwise, the black soot should come off pretty easily. If not, try chrome polish if the black is not some sort of deposit or corrosion.

One on the right for me
Brillo pad? I've never used it on the exhaust but it works well at taking shit off other parts of the car. Might be a little too harsh but not sure

I Just spray some wheel cleaner on the tips, and the black stuff comes right off with a sponge.

does it have a rough feel or a smooth feel to it? if it is rough, it is gonna be dirt and other deposits. If it is smooth, the trip's chrome oor tituanium finish coating has worn off like mine did.
ADVICE: take a flashlight and look down the inside of the tail pipe, if u see an amount of rusting, that may mean your fuel may have an improper mixture in the engine.

I used Blue Magic metal polish when I had a Borla stainless steel system on my GS300. It's best to get in the habit of polishing the tips every time you wash the car, so the deposits don't build up.

Sorry, should clarify. Works great at taking shit off of your tires (have white lettering on my mustang's tires, regular soap never works)

Then I used it to clean my wheels... there's a part on my wheel that's polished (the rest is painted) and it got all scratched up to shit.
On soft surfaces, like tires, it's okay to use. On hard surfaces, especially painted/polished, never ever use it.

Although, to keep that area clean, I just wash it with the car every time. Stays clean that way like someone else mentioned. Looks like new!
