I do not know this but I wouldn't think so. I know you can debadge the car yourself, especially the "Acura" and "TL" markings. So why not take these off and the center Acura emblem off of the trunk and paint the darn things black or have a body shop paint them black and reinstall.

Personally, I wouldn't do it but perhaps that's a solution to your problem.

I have actually been looking for these...I am looking to get rims that are a grey color, and would love to find emblems to match...no such luck though

Think a reputable body shop could prep and paint them to give them the look you are going for? Or would it be too pricey?

The "Acura" and "TL" logo are just held on with light glue and most have removed with dental floss.

As for the center mounted Acura logo.....can't say. However, if you're pulling off to paint and then reapply, my guess is that the body shop could do this for you and place something in any holes which might be there in the interim.

Let me know if you go through with this and post pics on how it looks.....we all would be fairly interested/curious.

YES...as far as I know, the Acura symbol does have holes underneath...I know my old Accord did also, but all the replacement emblems I bought for it had holes that matched up and slid in easy

The black pearl that the lexus does is not paint or powder coating it is actually a black nickel plating process. I am not sure with the emblems are made from but the process is not cheap. If enough people were interested I could look into it but it would probably be somewhat pricey to have them done best guess would be in the $30.00 per piece range. That is assuming that are aluminum.

You could always take them off and send them out to be plated Black Chrome. Do a search online and you'll find plenty of places that will plate just about anything in different finishes.

Most of them use a powdercoated finish. Very difficult to do that with plastic. Remeber, the powdercoat finish has to be baked in a oven to bond and cure.

Do a search on the web for powdercoating plastic.

99-01 Black Chrome Emblem

This is the link showing the black chrome kit for the 99-01 TL.

http://www.hond/Merchant2/merchant.m...egory_Code=ATL

I think a 04/05 kit would sell well.

I would love to have one for my SSM (the gold does not match at all).

Talking

I found the pic for that emblem

But that user haven't been on the forum in ages, and says he had it done at the dealership, since he's form fountain valley i'll assume he went to south coast acura to get it done as he said in here https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...t=spec+concept im gonna call local acura dealers in the morning and find out where he got it done. also if anyone know how to make that same effect, please let me know. ie. type of paint, prep. etc.

Thanks

Black Emblems

I have talked to a couple of platers regarding this, as mentioned in an earlier post it is a black nickel (black chrome) process and I was quoted $35. This is doable because the emblem is actually chrome plated plastic. I bought a stock emblem from the dealer ($21) to play around with and yes there are holes left in the trunk.
I was also looking to do the same thing to the from headlight buckets but these are vacuum metalized so the black nickel process will not work. I am researching a product called "cosmic chrome" which is a paint in many colors that has the reflection of chrome. I have seen products done this way and they look good. I will keep you guys posted.

You can't powerdercoat because the emblems are plastic and would melt in the oven they used to cure the finish. Plastic pieces have their own dipping/plating process that is much different than regular chroming (don't ask me exactly how they do it). There was a thread that Weir Canyon acura was selling them (overstock...they said they don't have them anymore) that were all bought up by azine members. The shop that was chroming them for Weir Acura no longer plates it because there was no longer a demand and the process was labor intensive. Just my contribution to the thread...if you can find a shop that will do it, it will probably be very expensive because of the process...

Actually, the company that plated them for Weir still does them. It runs about $140 for all the emblems.

I'm guessing it was Testors window tinting paint for models.

I actually painted my prev. cars rear tails with it then applied clear over that, they held up pretty well.
