bitter sweet update to my TL
bitter sweet update to my TL
i had my TL tinted today...not sure of the exact process, but knew enough to make sure the shop had worked on TL's before and also include the velvet protector at the bottom of each window.
i had just detailed the car the night before, so i knew exactly the condition of the car before dropping it off. i expected their tech's paw prints all over it, etc...but as i was driving home i noticed the driver door rattling. nice. i get home and find that they did not replace the panel correctly (which also taught me that they removed all the panels). then i see a ton of impression marks all over the leather seats...especially in the back. the worst part, the front passenger door storage compartment---they tore the leather open on the top edge of the swing out door. argh.
so, i call the installer and politely describe to the woman that answers what i noticed. her response: "our installers would NEVER do that". i actually started laughing into the phone. "well, why would i waste my time to call and report this if they did not?"
so, now i get to see if they will pay to get a new door piece that was tore open. it is small (about 1/2")...but damage is damage if you ask me. i'm sure the door panel will be ok after putting it on straight and the leather impressions will eventually pop back out. i threw on some conditioner to help it along.
sigh.
ANYWAY, the tint looks great!
at least they got that right.
i went with 40% film being added all the way around, which ended up being a little under legal for all windows after you add in the cumulative effect of the factory tint. i didn't want super dark ghetto tint anyway and think it looks perfect.
enough ranting.

south central WI...it's very disappointing because i had multiple references for them from coworkers, friends, and also my local Acura dealership contracts work out to them. i'll wait until Monday to make my final opinion of them after i speak w/ the owner. i'm reasonable and can understand mistakes...it's more about the customer service and how they handle it when the mistakes are made.
You just can't have nice stuff anymore, I had a turkey on my hood pecking the hell out of it, you could call him a dumb bird that does not understand it takes money to buy things like that, but for grown adults to do stupid stuff like this is beyond me. I feel your pain, just having to go through all that and get the piece ordered, etc is just a pain in the .....
