"Dude" in the cars being discussed in this thread.. your not exactly gonna light the wheels up through first gear. there is minimal if Anything you can do launching an automatic car with 220-250 hp that weighs 4000 lbs.

launching an Auto Vette? yes there is some skill to be learned there.. but an accord.. a TL... No

wanna break torque and give 75% Throttle so you dont get wheel spin? sure.. go ahead and burn that tranny up lol.

my car is rated at 15.5 - 15.7 in the quarter.. i have ran a 15.45 by "mashing the gas"

these cars dont have enough power stock to worry about technique IMO

I've had both cars...

3G TL 5AT = 15.4@93
3G TL 6MT = 14.3@100

Not in the same league.

That is about the outcome I expected. Stock vs stock its a drivers race between a 7th gen Accord V6 auto and TL Auto. So with I/E on the accord it would be the faster car.

I/E give the accord about 15whp or so. I know it states 7whp and 6wtq for my magnaflow on the website and about 12whp from the injen intake but everyone would probobly achieve different results depending on the conditions. It is enough to make a difference in the race so it seems with your outcome.

I ran about even with a older 98 Accord V6 sedan

Anyhow, I just got my car not too long ago. idkk.. is there something wrong with my car? or is this the daring truth about the TL's performance.. btw... i hate the TL's 4th gear.

[Disclaimer: I do not endorse street racing in any way.]
i was able to put 2 cars on an 06 honda accord v6 with CAI from 50-160km/h and i just kept pulling i'm also an auto and im stock.lol does the exhaust really make that much of a difference? and were u in SS or auto?

That's an understatement; looks like the AV6 driver was waiting for a fourth honk or something.

We took off at the same time
had the accord been waiting around for a fourth honk;
the camera car which also accelerated after the 3rd honk
wouldve started pulling closer to the accord
the camera quality wasn't that great either
i'll get a better vid next time when we run again after a few mods =)

You may have hit the gas at the same time, but you definitely didn't take off at the same time per the video. Maybe he floored it in D and you were using the Tiptronic? It definitely looked as if you took off first (maybe due to the D lag?)

We were both in auto, i wasn't using tiptronic.
i've also reduced the weight of my car with some tips from TL diet thread
IMO the 18's he got may have slowed him down a bit as well.
i'm gonna run him again after he gets his greddy exhaust
and i get my aem v2, should be a good run

i wouldnt say the TL is faster then like an 05-07 Accord V6 i know the type S is faster but the none type S and the previous years i think there about the same i have a 2007 Accord V6 with i/e and like i said b4 my sister has a 2005 TL and i raced her 4 times and with 2 diffrent drivers and my car pulled each time on her not by much maybe a half a car to almost a full car but i always won and then i drove her car and i dont know it didnt feel faster then mine maybe cuz of the i/e. i think the TL and accord a fairly matched together its deffinetly a good run for both cars.. and i have raced other TL's with intakes and exhaust and also the same result i pulled .but i did race a 6MT TL he smoked me but of course..lol

A/T will beat the M/T because there won't be as much delay in the M/T as there is in the A/T!

No it won't. The A/T in the TL isn't a DCT/DSG, its a slush box. If anything a turbo A/T would need to upgrade their valvebody asap in order to handle the new power.

Things you have to be aware before buying a car if you want performance:

1st: Gear ratio
2nd: Weight of the vehicle
3rd: HP and Torque
4th: Power curve in the dyno

Yes TL 5AT is famous for being slow. It's got worlds tallest gears ever, with 4th & 5th gear being the worst. 3rd gear isn't that great either compare to the 6MT version. 6MT is just flat out faster car.

I have had both a base 07 auto and now a 07 auto Type S and I will say I do like the tranny feel in the S better.
IIRC, it's the '08 model TL and TL Type-S Auto's have *slightly* shorter gears........ but still crap compare to the regular model 6MT, they are nowhere close. With the Auto version you will still suffer starting at 4th gear and on. What's worse? they are limited at 133 mph, fuel cut. The older 3rd gen models have higher top speeds, 5AT tops out at around 155 mph and the 6MT at 152.

yep.. TL 6MT will beat you from a dig and will beat you badly in roll races and will rape you to the top speed.

Drove a IS350 recently, and it only comes in automatic only, but that thing hauls ass.
With the VSC/ TRAC Off and ECT Off it'll do 4.7 sec 0-60 and very low 13's ET.

With Traction Control On both cars will go slower.

Best post I have read in a while.

Sounds like you know how to launch and know the shift points well on the 6MT.
