Cool Best Windshield Wipers? LOL

Couldn't find anywhere else to post this. I'm really not very good with cars and something as simple as this is often overlooked.

Instead of just picking up a pair of cheap wipers at my local rundown walmart, I thought I'd ask what wipers you guys are using?

I just test drove a 2011 RSX and noticed the wipers were very quiet and did a great job at removing crud. Made me realize mine were overdue for a replacement, any recommendations on really good, quiet wipers for my 05 tl?

i put piaa's on my car...so far they work great.

i had the rain x beam blades...my passenger side BROKE, literally snapped off the bracket and flew off my windshield on the hwy during a storm on my way to work one day. total POS. the remaining bracket proceeded to scratch my windshield until i could swap wiper blades. after reading the review on them through amazon, i'm not the only one. put your money towards something that won't turn into a potential hazard later.

the piaa's...after a few months...still working well. planning on getting a set of refills for my MDX.

so, i'd say be careful with beam blades...they can break.

First clean off your windshield VERY well and put a coating of Aqualpel on it. I bought some of the sticks and LOVE it! Your need for wipers will be greatly reduced! It's like Rain-X on steroids!

Then get yourself a good set of wipers like the Bosch Icon's and your done!

i have tried rain-x, piaa silicone, reflex, lexus oem and of course honda oem. they were all leaving streaks in winter time for me with salt, grime and slush on the windshield. i ended buying these rather fat ones from walmart called ultimate-x, after reading a review about them. they were the best wipers i have ever owned.

I cant find PIAA's local in Chicago. I'll order them in a few months but I think I'll snag the Bosch Icons, I can get them at advanced auto parts tomorrow morning.

Actually the Bosch Icons get really bad reviews on Amazon. Said they turn to crap after 30-60 days?

I've had mine on for at least a year and they work well! The biggest issue I have with them is that when they are dirty, IE the car isn't clean, it takes a few swipes for them to clear off and start cleaning properly.

I've used Silblades on all the cars for years because of the 5yr warranty, but take some detergent e.g. 409 on a paper towel and clean up the rubber blades. You'd be amazed at the buildup.

I've had good luck with the icons. Rain X were good on my wife's car. Never tied piaa.

i dont care too much for Bosch Icons. Had them on my mother's Ody, my at the time integra, sister's civic, and in the socal sun the things dont last more than a month. Dad had bought a bunch during an amazon sale.

The silblades I had on my mom's ody before all of this lasted a few years before the frame's paint started flaking and rusting, and it was getting a bit streaky.

I also think the one piece/frame design is gimmicky. Yeah, it looks cool, but springs as we all know lose tension over time, so those things are meant to be disposable, vs. the traditional frame with the spring in the rubber portion that can get replaced every time the refill is replaced.

I'm going to settle on a PIAA too many bad reviews of the BOSCH. They should be here in a week or so anyway no big deal.

What is the difference between the cheaper PIAA Super Silicone and the more expensive PIAA SI-Tech Silicone? The descriptions don't really say much =( Anyone used the SI-Tech's?

It looks like the SI-Tech's are the same... except its "frame-less" and good for all weather conditions? Chicago gets a lot of ice snow would these be better for a few extra bones?

I liked my Bosch icons at first, and I think they handled a pretty harsh winter well, but am disappointed with their longevity. The blades seem to have lost their rigidity and now flip-flop over or chatter as they sweep. I'll try cleaning them as suggested, but they weren't much better than others that cost less.

I hear that about Bosch all the time, and the streaking

I just ordered a set of the PIAA Super Sporza Silicon. Will be here in 2 days

After many many years of driving, I have learned to only buy Honda's OEM inserts. They are gray silicon. They last 3 years for me every time in the Hot dry desert and only cost ~$3 each. It's especially nice since you are only buying the rubber blade. You don't need to waste money on the whole assembly.

Just order them online and they are super cheap.

Same ones I use on my TL, they look pretty decent too but ya they do a good job on wiping.

RDX will get that when it's time to replace the Bosch they have now.

ordered a 26" piaa super sporza (w/ spoiler) for the drivers side, where the spoiler really counts (mom's way old mazda mpv had a spoiler only on the drivers side too lawl). Passenger side i'll pick up a regular piaa wiper in due time.

Just wanted to thank someone for the suggestion to clean the blades. My Icons have been pretty streaky and was considering replacing them soon. It wasn't so much streaking like when the blade gets nicks and grooves. It was more an oily streaking and maybe that should have been a clue. I was a little skeptical, thinking that the constant exposure to water and washer fluid would prevent them from getting dirty, but what the hey. I wiped the blades down and to my surprise it cut out about 90% of the streaking. The results are remarkable for the three minutes of effort it took.

So, whatever brand you have now, decide to go with later, etc., if their effectiveness seems to go to crap, try clean them before you do anything.

put my piaa wiper w/ spoiler on today. Looked like an idiot with my wipers going for no reason (PIAA directions say run them for 5 minutes to do the initial coat). But even in the dry they were completely silent.
