Best Tint/Smoked Overlay Films
I have a crazy idea to smoke my turn signal lights on my side view mirrors of my 07 WDP.. I got the idea from some of the new Mercedes on the road now that have literally have blacked out blinkers on the side view mirrors, especially clean looking on white cars.
Does anyone know where I can purchase film to cut myself and do a little afternoon project? If it looks like crap, I won't keep it. I have just never seen it done before on this site, but I feel it could look really good.
And oh yeah, I'm soon going to have a black roof on my white TL. Clean

If you're going to use vinyl just buy some on Ebay. It doesn't have to be pre cut(You'll pay more if it is). The mirror isn't too hard to do just use heat, a good squegee and make sure everything is clean!!

actually this has been done before. i remember seeing a thread about a month or two ago and someone did it.
i was thinking about doing this too to my nbp
my question is. some of you said to use vinyl. if you vinyl the turn signal, how will you be able to see the turn signal LEDs when you hit the turn signal/hazards?
i vinyled my front grill and rear trunk and the type of vinyl i used, i don't see any type of light being able to pass through it. do they sell tinted vinyl that will let light through?

I'm not sure how vht would hold up to bugs and everything else. I've seen vht used on tails but not on something that is on the front of the car. I'm willing to bet that vht will not last very long at all on the mirrors, headlights or anything else that is vulnerable to rocks, bugs and road debris.

Just go to any Auto Parts store and buy Window tint and use that. As for the Vinyl Question about it not being see through to use... They sell special See through vinyl (that can be any color which is also used for the TL Fog lights to make them yellow) that people use which is more expensive than window tint. You will need a heat gun to mold the tint or vinyl to the lens so which ever route you go you will need heat to mold the material on to the lens. As for paint, you will need a Candy paint which is see through when applied. I preferably would go with the Tint its cheaper and you can pick some up with any local auto parts store instead of waiting for them to ship you the vinyl

If you're going to spray them (which I wouldn't as it is permanent), take the signals off the car. Its not hard and will come out cleaner. Rule of thumb: don't paint something while it's still on the car. You never know how well things are masked off, etc, and you can ensure that the entire piece gets sprayed.
Look up the vendor on here Blue Batmobile. He does custom vinyl overlays. There's more info than you could ever need about them in this thread: https://acurazine.com/forums/sponsored-sales-group-buys-10/blue-batmobile-vinyl-overlays-tsx-3rd-4th-gen-tls-381672/.
And FWIW, this is what it'll look like. It really looks best if your headlights are blacked out also.

Use plasti dip. I used vinyl to tint them it was hard and I scratched the mirror with my hobby knife.

Please do yourself a favor and don't even consider plastidip, do you want your signals to still be functional?? Also stay away from VHT it looks sub par and thats if its applied perfectly, plus it wont last long on your mirrors unless its coated with a 2 part clear coat (Not a rattle can).
I wanted mine just a little darker so I used oracal 8300 transparent cal smoke. They sell a darker version too. Excellent film a bit hard to apply but it has good clarity and no purple or blue hue when light shines through like other films I have tried.
