Best (and cheapest) way to protect TL while parallel parking?

Im forced to parallel park quite a bit. Any advice for preventing damage from people parked in front and behind me?

Bumper guard?

maybe figure out some way to attach something (metal bar/barrier) to your FRONT and REAR bumper.

that way, they'll tap into that instead of your paint.

Nothing you can really do except those bumper guard things.

You can make a sign that says "Please don't hit my car" LOL

I can parallel perfectly fine. What I'm worried about is OTHER people. Thanks for the serious posts.

I was actually thinking of something like this: http://www.bumperbully.com/products_...rotection.html

Anybody have experience with these?

Was thinking about bumper bully and/or license plate rubber frame.

If you're going to be parallel parking frequently, I think you should expect at least one terrible driver to tap your car. I don't think it can be avoided to be honest.

My only suggestion is to park away from other cars, even if it means you're walking a little bit. Also, while you're at it, I hope you have a set of wheel locks. There's been a few posts of assholes stealing other people's wheels and other parts.

If you have a parking spot that fits up to 2 cars, always park at the rear one. At least that way your license plate can take some damage if anyone ever backs into your car.

Park at the end of the street if possible. At least you only have to contend with one driver (front or rear).

There has been a ton of threads on this topic. Quite a few members on here use the bumper bully.

Only way to be safe for sure though is to put on these bad boys:

Those are fairly cheap. I would probably go with those or park on the corner of the street, so you only have to worry about one side.

+1. I try to be the first or last car in the row and then cheat a little bit leaving the person in front or behind me some extra room.

Just don't find yourself parking next to this guy.

Living in the outskirts of a downtown city I feel your pain and fear. It sucks worrying about if someone hit your car every minute you're in the house.

That being said I usually try to take the first or last spot on the street, next choice would be second to first or second to last and if you go that route stay close to the car in front if you're parked 2nd in line......if parked 2nd to last stay back a decent amount.

If those options aren't available just take a glance at how the cars in front and behind of the car in front and behind you are parked and position yourself accordingly.

I usually always aim whichever mirror down a bit further than standard when reversing as well. I've found that if you position the mirror so that you can see both door handles you can get the car parked perfectly parallel with the curb. Not to mention that allows you to closely monitor the curb and the bumper of the car behind you. I also keep my foot light on the brake at night when reversing to provide extra vision capabilities.

Knock on wood I haven't had an issue aside from stupid ass kids jumping on the hood of my old car and running back the roof.....guess that's what I get for making a bright red turbocharged Volvo stand out like a sore thumb. lol

After that I thought, I'm tired of spending money on this old car.....that's what started my looking for the TL.

I never park in between cars cause of nyc parking and as far as bumper guards go, mine got stolen a few weeks back some d**k ripped the straps off my guard that covers my bumper from corner to corner( bumper blocker) and in the process left wolverine claws on my bumper 08 kbp type s and the back up camera comes in real handy if anyone ever wants thinks of installing it.

LOL. I actually carry six 36" cones in my trunk that I have to use for work sometimes and decided to start doing that when I have to parallel park. Also helps save me parking tickets. The meter maids figure your with some utility company or something.
