USAA, But I'm biased...

It may not be the cheapest (it might be) but their customer service is great. You will have to look hard to find something negative on them.

+2 for USAA. They're rates don't go up when you have a claim and their customer service is TOP NOTCH.

I use Geico. It was the cheapest by far when I was searching for car insurance for the first time. I get the same coverage at a fraction of the cost. It might not be the cheapest for everyone, a lot of things factor in to the price of someone's coverage.

Ok. How about from the point of view of quality of repairs? and no haggle claims? I have heard Geico makes you compromise on the quality of repairs? Also will the insurer make you go to the body shop they say or do we have a choice?

I haven't needed to make a claim with Geico yet so I wouldn't have an opinion.

I've got State Farm, but I'm a USAA member too. I might have to look in to them.

My folks have Geico and have made a couple claims. I don't know too much of the details, but they said it was huge hassle. In fact, they almost got dropped for a $800 claim.

I have GEICO. AKA: Government Employee Insurance Company. That is why most of the time they are the cheapest.

What some people don't know is that every insurance company, except All-State, will use aftermarket parts and body parts for an accident claim. So if you want OEM body parts after an accident you will have to pay the difference between OEM vs. aftermarket plus your deductible. That is why sometimes I see TLs without the "ACURA" on the front bumper.

USAA is a great company. Had them for years but never had to file a claim. I did like getting the annual dividend check. I now use Hanover which is bundled with my home owners insurance. Again, I've never filed a claim with them either.

I use Nationwide because I get an additional discount through work. I've never had any problems working with them. If it weren't for the work discount, I'd probably use Amica. I was six months away from getting on Erie (need seven years ticket/accident free) when I got a ticket . If you can get on Erie, they are generally considered the best for auto insurance. USAA is great, but you have to be affiliated with the military in some fashion (in/retired, family member in/retired). I second pbcmedia on GEICO .

As for aftermarket parts, that's up to you. I pay an extra couple of bucks with my premium every six months for OEM replacement part coverage.

When I had my s2000 I smashed into a wall on a highway going 30 mph because of really hard rain and construction, therefore no drainage for the rain. It caused about 9k in damages.. Geico was helpful all the way! Didn't drop me but my coverage went up about 20.00 a month. I didnt think it was too bad. They also allowed me to pick the shop that did the work.. and the adjuster was very friendly. If you look at my sig I go through cars alot .. it was really easy to get new overages with geico.. just call and ten minutes later my new car was placed under coverage.. but i will need to check out USAA to see if they are cheaper for me!

Here are some pics of the accident.

Makes me sad everytime I see these pics.. =/

You might want to check your facts before you post such a bold statement. USAA did not on any accident and I never paid a premium for it.

USAA - best customer service of any company. ANY company. Not just insurance.

SAN ANTONIO - USAA, the nation's sixth largest automobile insurer, today announced that it is reaffirming its commitment to using only aftermarket crash parts that carry the Certified Automotive Parts Association (CAPA) seal.
"We've looked objectively at the alternatives and frankly, CAPA's certification process is the only process out there that meets our standards for quality, non-OEM replacement parts," said Butch Viccellio, President of USAA's Property and Casualty Insurance Group.

But I need reference the wrong company. Its State Farm that estimates repairs using OEM crash body parts.

i have state farm and they have been pretty good, but i am still latching on to the parents plan. i have had one claim with them and it went smoothly. usaa is great, but i dont think just anyone can use them, pretty sure you or a family member must be in the military. my buddy at work swears by AAA, but they are a little $$ but worth it if you have everything insured through them (house, multiple cars, etc.)

I have USAA for my house and full coverage on both my cars. I have yet to file a claim with them, but everything I have heard from people they are very easy to work with. As for their customer service, they are hands down the best I have ever delt with.

We've been very happy with Nationwide (have both home and auto) and have never had anything but first rate service from them.

i get oem parts... even though ive only had to put my car in the shop once.... was parked and someone ran a stop sign causing my car to get hit in the aftermath of one car bouncing off the other.... i think getting oem is completely up to u and wethere or not u want to pay the lil extra for it... but i would ask whichever company u choose to go with because the company isnt going to just volunteer info like that... they would be shooting theirselves in the foot... why say something if the customer doesnt know to ask for it... saves them money
