I have searched some, but didn't find out what I really need to know... If I get the 18" rims, is there an acceptable tire that can be used year-round in the Chicago area? Which would provide the best combination of comfort, wet & snow traction, and quiet in this size? If I have to stick with 17"s, does anyone make an identical rim in 17 that matches the Acura 18?

IMO, Michelin Pilot Sport A/S is the best all season tire made, well worth the price. I have 80, 000 highway miles on mine and just finished rotating and considering replacing. Still have some life left. Handle great in wet or dry.

I concur. The Michelin Pilot Sports A/S (all-season) are an excellent choice. For less money, one might check out the Continental Conti-Extreme Contacts and the Pirelli P-Zero Nero M&S's.
