Bad Windshield Wiper Design

Anyone else annoyed with how the TL's windshield wiper would always leave excess fluid on the top of the windshield on the driver side? What is annoying is the fact that this excess fluid would slowly drip down after the windshield is nice and clean. You will need to activate the wipers again, but the rest of the windshield is dry so you will need to spray more fluids. The cycle never ends! This is one of my very few complaints about this car. The other is a lack of an integrated key fob / start button.

Yup- I noted that as one of the annoyances on my 5000 mile review.

I've noticed it but I can't really say it has annoyed me that much. If I have to use the sprayers then the car is already dirty so it's all down hill from there on out.

How would you design it to not leave any fluid on the glass?

Maybe you could go with a longer blade on the driver's side. I don't know if it would interfere with the passenger side arm but it's easy enough to try. But I think the drip you are talking about would still happen.

My last car would do a delayed single sweep about 5 seconds after the burst of sweeps during spraying. It inevitably streaked an otherwise clean windshield. I guess you can't win either way.

The length of the blades usually can't be chaged because they will run off the windshield at one point or another. The sweep of the passenger side arm needs to be longer so the water is swept down by the driver's side arm.

I kind of like the way it works on the G35. The fluid comes out of nozzles on the wiper assembly - no spraying.

I agree. I normally use the fast single sweep when washing and it always leaves a trickle after the first sweep. Always 12 o'clock on the drivers side. I guess Acura's compromise was to use 3 slower sweeps to make sure the bulk of it has trickled down.

I suppose the added speed of the fast sweep forces the liquid up past the swept area of the windscreen ? I can't remember if does this on the regular wash cycle as well. Maybe a small adjustment on the nozzle might help.

I feel that the single sweep (the push up on the lever) is too fast. It always sprays excess water on the passenger side for me. Then I usually have to put it on the intermittant setting once to wipe the window clean because it goes a little slower.

I hate to revive an old thread like this, but after searching for answers, I found none. Is there a fix for the wiper alignment described in this quote? An annoying drop of water is left at 12:00 on the driver's side, and it invariably rolls down the windshield into my sight line. Has anyone else been annoyed enough to fix it? Does a realignment of the passenger wiper resolve the issue?
Thanks.

I don't see what the problem is. After I spray mine, I wait a while and then hit the wipers one time and it's gone and no streaking. A single swipe on a mostly dry windshield is not going to hurt anything.

BTW, it's nice to see someone using the search function. I didn't realize it was an old thread until I got to your post.

I've noticed it also but it doesn't really bother me.

Thanks. I spend alot of time reading threads on here, and can usually find what I need by searching. It's my way of cutting down on the clutter. It's amazing how many threads are repeats of earlier posts.

Not gonna lie, ive had similar issues with every car ive ever had. If it doesnt happen in one spot, it will in another.

If this is your only complaint about the car, which i dont even consider it one myself, then consider yourself happy.

I use none of that rain x junk. I use Collinite 476S wax on my windshield.

Also, if you rinse your windshield while driving 40+, I don't see this being a problem at all...
