Bad Feeling
I got my oil changed today and for some reason did not take it to the dealership and took it to a jiffy lube type place but now ever since ive left ive had a bad feeling about it?
Also...is there a way to reset the oil life guage or can the dealership only change that?

I've taken my TL into Jiffy Lube for an oil change and have had no problems. I use a full synthetic and watch them while they do the change. I use to bring my Integra there all the time and never had a problem. The only problem was when the girl was entering the info in the computer she didn't know what kind of car it was because I had it debadged. it was kind of funny to see her circling around the car looking confused. i then went out and told her it was a TL.

^ Not all Jiffy Lubes are the same... some are good, most are bad. Even dealers can be bad, but at least there it more accountability at a dealer since they actually sell the cars and should know about them.

My wife used to drive an Olds Intrigue with the 3.8-liter V6. I took it in once for an oil change, supplying my own synthetic. (Previous owner started using it, and I thought it might be good because my wife didn't drive too far to work when we bought the car.)
When I got the car back I asked where the leftover oil was. They said there wasn't any--they'd used all six quarts. I said the engine only takes five. (Cannot remember exact numbers, but you get the idea.)
Turns out the guy changing the oil thought all Intrigues had the DOHC 3.5, and that engine takes six quarts.
At first they said overfilling wouldn't hurt anything. So I asked them to type up some verbage to that effect and sign it. They then opted to drain and refill.
So, yes, you've also got to keep your eye on the dealer.

I got a question since we are talking about oil, i have an 05 tl that i am leasing and my first oil change at arounf 4400 miles i decided to put in regular oil instead of synthetic since i dont really care and the car still runs great. Is there any problem with the fact that it came with synthetic but now i am using regular?

I have my oil changed every 6,000 miles at SpeeDee Oil change. I use Mobil One synthetic. I have never had a problem with the store in my area.
I didn't know the TL came from the factory with synthetic ooil. Can anyone confirm that?

I seriously doubt it. Posts on Temple of VTEC contained long discussions on the special break-in oil Honda uses. Lots of molybdenum in it.

Consumer Reports -- not their own opinion, merely passing along the results of a subscriber survey -- found their readers had a worse service experience with dealer service departments than with anywhere else, except for chains like Midas.
Their readers felt, and my personal experience agrees, that the best choice is a good independent garage.
Now, if you're talking just oil changes, I'm seduced by the convenience of the Jiffys just like anybody else. Although they suck, too.
