Backup Sonar

This option works very well. When you put the car in reverse it beeps for a second to test the sensors and let you know all is well and that they are all are working. The two on the back emit a different sound from the two on the side so you can fairly easily judge where the danger is. It also doesn't look as bad as it does in pictures and the colour match seems dead on. Great for parking i you are in a tight space. I wouldn't mind putting them on the front also.

The side molding looks pretty good also and everything blends in pretty well imo.

The weather here is lousy. I am going to try and get the windows tinted later this week or next and I will get some pics when the wether allows. I am really starting to like the Desert Mist, even though it wasn't my first choice, so does everyone else it seems.

Its dealer installed. Another interesting feature is all 4 modules operate independently. The back two have a low pitch and the side two have a high pitch. If you are backing at an angle both go off at the same time and you can tell whether you are going to hit from the back, side or somewhere in between. I love it.

Congratulations on the new car! Did you decide what level you are going to tint it?

Does the Sonar warn progressively? I usually am aware that I am real close when backing in that type situation so I would like to be able to differentiate between being 12 inches away and say 6 inches or closer. Can it be adjusted? I would be happy if it was on or off at a distance like 6 inches.

Thats exactly what I told the dealer. He said it was the same technology. As long as it works I'm happy

Yes it is progressive for all 4 sensors independently. No adjustment. This is what the manual says:

Sound corner sensors center sensors

slow beep within 2 ft within 6 ft
quick beep 1.5 ft 4 ft
continuous 1.0 ft 2 ft

I can't get the format right but you get the idea I hope.

I suppose then when the tone is solid you can judge backing up another 1/2 foot or so. If it would be solid from one to two feet and turn off altogether at 11.99 inches :-) that would be great. Tone goes off and you know you have a foot to go.

I don't want to spend $600 (or whatever they charge) for the dealer option that only beeps.

I rather have the voice type, which goes natural with the NAV+Voice command feature of the new TL.

Plus it's a lot cheaper = $200

here are some links I've collected so far:

& it seems people don't like the ACURA version anyway...
