Backup Camera? How Much?

For those who have a backup camera in your 04-06 TL, how much did it cost and where did you go to get it done. I have a quote from a local company in Boston who wants to charge $1,368. Does that make sense?

I don't remember exactly how much I paid, but it was was about $400-500.

Dom's video converter group buy + Camera from ebay.

Installed it myself with some help from other members DIY.

If you do it yourself, like there are many DIY's on.
$250 shipped for dom's plug and play unit
$115 shipped Wendys camera from ebay
$40 misc wires/install pieces
------
$400ish

If you pay someone though it will be alot more expensive

Installed myself

Group buy - Doms unit: $125
1/3 CCD Sony cam/mount (looks like factory Honda/Acura): $190

Total camera install: $315 (about 5 hrs labor)

Add in the extra switches/relays etc. for the DVD/audio aux-in, about $375 total..

$1400 is way too much.

Pay around $400 DIY or $700-1000 for a professional install.

Agree completely...

Instead of Wendy's camera from ebay... I went with Sonic Electronics Universal License Plate Camera (Boyo Vision VTL100 $180). It has a great image and you can angle it the way you want with a provided Alen Key. I did it myself with a friend of mine and it went very smooth.

Good Luck... PM me if you want my friend to install it for you at a decent price. That's if you want to drive down to NYC for the day.
