B-3 Service
B-3 Service
I just had an oil change and when I went to reset the DIC it mentioned it was time for B-3 service ?. Can someone tell me what this is ?. I've seen A-1 before, but never B-3, and I can't find any reference to it anywhere.
Thanks
Thanks
B- Replace engine oil and filter, rotate tires, check brakes, and check for an obvious damage.
3- Drain and refill (once) automatic or manual transmission fluid. Automatics take a little over 3 quarts of genuine Honda ATF-Z1 (or equivalent
), manuals take over 2 quarts of Honda MTF (or equivalent
).
How many miles do you have? I assume that you are in the 60s range?

I'm closinig in on 80K. I had the tranny fluid changed at 40K. Should I do it again, or is once enough ?.
At 80K I would strongly recommend the triple drain and refill, which is where they drain the tranny, replace the fluid, drive for about 5-10 minutes, then do this two more times. This will get most of the original stuff replaced. Acura does not recommend flushing the transmission.
The tranny takes 3 quarts per change, so 9 quarts total. Cheap insurance for an expensive transmission, but good to know you got that many miles and no problems.

OK....so now a new issue......
I had reset the DIC when I did the engine oil change.......I figured I would do the tranny next week......now I have a check engine light......it just happened.....don't know the code.....question is.....would the check engine light come on if you reset the DIC without doing the tranny oil change ?. Car seems to be running OK.

If you need your fault code read, if you have an AutoZone near you they will read and clear it for you for free. Just make sure they give you what the reading is so you can assess what to do next with the problem.

Gas cap was the first thing I checked. At the time this happened, the car had been idling for about 15 minutes as I waited for someone. I turned it off, and when I turned it back on 5 minutes later, the light came on. The light then went off on its own later when I was on my way home.
Some kind of airflow problem, maybe ?. Overheated catalytic ?.
Anyway....I'll be bringing the car into the dealer for the tranny service, and maybe they can figure out what this light was all about. I'll post when I know.
Thanks for the help.
