What's Up Acurazine

Ive been trolling or patrolling around acurazine for years now. Whatever you want to call it. Both times when I purchased a 2007 altima in 2007 and after the lease was up in 2010, I purchased another 2007 altima then. Had to go with what i was comfortable with both times.

Unfortunately a couple of weeks ago. A wreckless driver totaled it. Thankfully car was almost paid off, so value covered balance and I had a fair amount of equity as a very good downpayments towards something else. Long-story short, before that incident I had my eyes on '06 - '11: Lexus GS, Nissan Maxima, Infiniti M35, and Acura TLs. After the accident, I started really searching with intention and happened to come upon the beauty below. I could have "gotten more car" but figured why when this has everything I need. Always wanted the 3rd gen TL and has all the features I need and have wanted for an 06.

2006 Acura TL Automatic
  • Maint. in Florida by older gentleman (1 true owner)
  • full and timely Service records consistent on carfax and autocheck
  • One accident in 2007. Front side end, moderate damage reported and repaired. (figure years ago, it would have been an issue by now)
  • no noticible scratches or dents... almost flawless and prob garage kept. Oil change @ 77K miles.
  • Silver w Ebony/Carbon Fiber Interior & Navi & tinted windows
  • 80K Miles
  • After some back and forth, purchased at $13K + Interest/fees. Put a good amount down and shortened payment terms to 3 years. Paying 10 bucks more than my altima note (was almost done paying off altima....)
Apologies for the novel. Just excited as hell.
Have had it for 2 weeks now. I am fairly literate in forum do's, donts, and searching so I have identified ideas and solved problems over the years and even more recently after purchasing the car. 26 yr old young professional in atl so my time is limited at some points but I love the car.
  • 1.25 bottles of Seafoam in a tank always using 93 octane gas.
  • .75 bottle of seafoam through Vac line, blew out a little smoke and ran like champ ( I know the opinions but figure ill give it a shot anyway as it did wonders for my altima which was approaching 120K miles).
  • Engine Air filter change to puralator
  • Reset ECU by disconnecting battery
  • Ordered new HFL unit as mine is having booting up and pairing issues with Iphone 4S. I disconnected, cleaned and reseated the current one with no luck.
  • Not good at soldering or extensive DIY with similar tools. I could not find the current specific sizes for the sidemarkers, license, interior, and courtesy LED bulbs. Almost every thread I have read have different sizes, specs and people's opinions.
    • Is there a way to easily change sidemarker bulbs to white LEDs w/o soldering etc?
    • What specific low-cost size and LEds can I purchase for the car. Preferably white or similar color.
  • Giving it a good detail head to toe after 2 weeks of just letting it be driving daily. I have two eraser head size rust spots around the hood also. and headlight haze.
    • Yes, I have walked around wash and wax thread, but any good personal recs on process on prepping for winter in re to waxing/cleaning?
  • Trying to save a little more money over next cpl months so will cut out unecess. items like rims and similar until next summer. Success with plastidiping rims? maybe black and then glossify? Will help on roadtrips and dust.
  • Also wanted to do black roof vinyl, similar to Bluebatmobile's roof vinyls. Any specific vendor or site to purchase from? Will it be one piece with roofcutout?
  • As far as gas.... it isnt fun, I came from a 4cyl but it is doable, besides the things I have done mentioned earlier and also running tires at 35 psi even. Any ideas for fuel economy that I can consider?
  • I downloaded a manual, but @ 81K miles, what should I begin looking to have done service and maintenence wise immediately?
  • Any ideas for easy simple mods or additions besides Aspec kit, rims etc that I can do to make it uniquely mine? I do know about the DIY thread which has been helpful but need simple easy ideas compiled.
Thanks for your help in advance. Not looking for a response for everything from everyone, contribute where you can to help is possible. Sorry for the novel, just wanted to avoid a million mini-posts from me for everything. I'll prob be watching and lurking after this thread chiming in where I can as I get to know this car.

first off, congrats on the car!

second, as far as LEDs, just find a place where you can get LEDs with a socket size of T10/194. technically speaking, the bulbs on your four domes, the vanity lights on the headliner, the trunk light, the door courtesy lights and the reverse lights all have the same socket size. the reverse lights though need more LEDs to be brighter as a reverse light.

frankly if you buy this:

Amazon Amazon

you can pretty much have all those mentioned replaced with LED and just buy this one for your reverse and you should be set:

Amazon Amazon

i have the bulbs on the first link (but I didnt but it from that seller, i picked it up local from a friend) as my license plate lights. I do have LED boards for my interior domes, vanity and door courtesy, but they all are using the T10/194 socket. so just find an online/local seller that are selling bulbs with a socket identical to what I linked up and you should be fine.

Looks just like mine when I bought it The first thing I'd to do make it "uniquely yours" is wheels, tires and suspension. Theres a few engine mods that can be done to increase power, but only you can see (feel) those. Subtracting weight with lighter weight but good looking wheels will help both performance as well as appearance. If you're in a non-winter climate there are a lot of summer tires that are kick-ass as well. Suspension options are limitless but a subtle drop on the TL looks great. Look into some of that stuff first if you want to help performance as well as looks.

So.... haven't seen a response for this thread in a few, so here goes...

1- Nice job picking up a TL off the FL market. Enjoy it and stick with those stock rims - they are the best looking until you are *sure* about knowing if an upgrade is worth it.
2- LEDs? Search is your friend.
3- ASPEC body kit - get it while you can. You have purchased a car whose manufacturer has said they are not producing accessory parts to fit your body. Jump on board now.
4 - Performance accessories are here for a while. Good aftermarket vendors represented on the forums here.
5- The TL is a great car - certainly the 3rd Gen. Enjoy it and keep the community updated!
